That’s impressive! Especially since most fans was disappointed in him getting the job

It's pretty damn good. But he had a bumpy start considering he inherited the more talented team than the last 4 coaches.

The question would be if he could get us back over the hump and sustain it. Looking great so far.

As of right now coach Orgeron is LSU's all time winningest coach at LSU having won 77.4% of games played, having now eked out MIles at 77.02%

Explain the math to me. O is 30-9 right now at LSU so 30/39 by my math equals 76.92. Do you mean if he wins he will be? If he wins he will be 31-9 which would be 77.50%. Oh, let me guess, not counting the interem gig? That is not how this works, nor is it how they will list his accomplishments in the record books.

I hope O can keep it going but time will tell that. If you look at Les's first 39 games he was 33-6 (84.61%) first 40 was 34-6 (85%). Les's first 31 games were 27-4(87.1%).

A few of the top coaches by percentage

Les @ 77.02 (148 games)
O @ 76.92 (39 games)
Saban @ 75 (64 games)
Arnsparger @ 72.22 (36 games)
Cholly Mac is @ 67.48 (228 games)
Bernie Moore @ 64.84 (128 games)

Here's to O setting new records in the long term starting with an Undefeated NC this season

Sure it is. That's exactly how it works.

That's why "interim" is a different category.

wouldnt a more fair way to judge would be all coaches after 39 games?
if not then coaches that have coached 1 game have a higher win%.

there is a reason there are mandatory minimums in ncaa record books

According to LSUSports.net Ed Orgeron's record at LSU was 25-9 entering this season according to his bio.

https://lsusports.net/coaches.aspx?rc=2464&path=fb

His LSU record is 30-9 according to Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Orgeron

His LSU record is 30-9 on sports reference

https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/coaches/ed-orgeron-1.html

Why try to use a meaningless stat to prove O is doing a great job? His teams performance on the field right now is proving that. A few more years of performing very well consistently will solidify it.

Heck, if he wins this game he surpasses Miles percentage, 77.5 to 77.0.

If he wins the next 2 78.05. If we go into Bama undefeated 78.57

Win out and win the CFP 81.63.

Let it play out on the field.
