The correct answer is, they would say that LSU should've won 4 championships since CLM has been here. So no they wouldn't suddenly approve of him.

His recruiting is stellar, top 10 every year except for two years ago when the class was 18th. I agree that it will be several years though before we are in position to win another one. Certianly wont be next year with a brand new QB, WR's, etc...

If he had won 1/9....arguably the greatest season in CFB history (wins over Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl champs, a #1 vs #2, a #1 vs #3 win) yeah he would've had a pass. if he had won 1.9, i'd give him all the fricking passes he want. If I had a front yard, i'd give him a pass to shite in my front yard.

This. We had the advantage on bama and miles would have had an argument as a better coach. Now gumps and laughing and about to win 4 out of 5

Putting aside national championships, there's no doubt the heat gets turned up on Miles (and a handful of other guys) when we go to a four-team playoff next year. Under the current system, there are reasonable fall-backs for coaches and programs: Go to a BCS game, win 10 or 11 games, make it to your conference title game, etc. Those benchmarks won't mean anything if they aren't accompanied by a berth in the playoffs.

I don't.

We all have freedom of choice and if you are college football mentally challenged to the point you cant embrace the fact LSU is experiencing the finest period of success in our football lives cause we loss a title game...shame on you.

I have been on a high since 2002 and a few failures along the way hasn't blinded me to the fact that we are one of the Top 3-5 college programs in the game. Something LSU hasn't ever been able to say before

I can live with that and others can be as "poor me" as they have a want to be.

It was not just losing the BCS championship game after that terrific season. It was the WAY we lost. No offense. Not showing up prepared for a team that is our arch rival and whom we played tough in the regular season. If we had won, people would still be talking about that season and team as a benchmark for others. Instead, we are an asterisk on Alabama's consecutive nat champ run. And, it was mostly the coach's fault.

I dont think it was mostly the coach's fault. The players have to own some responsibility for what happend on 1.9. When it came down to game time- the players decided that they didnt like the coach's decision, so they played their own game. And that is what you saw on the field.

it's not that we lost 1/9; it's how we lost that is so bad.

It's the circumstances in which we lost:

1. Having already beat Alabama in #1 vs #2 at THEIR place

2. It was the coach we were facing in the BCSCG. Who would've ever thought 2 teams from the same division would be playing for the BCSCG? Much less against our old coach, that our fans compared our current coach to, since day 1.

3. It was the amazing season we had, and to come out so flat in the championship game. All year we saw what we were capable of. What hurts the most is knowing we were a much better team all year than what we displayed on January 9, 2012. It hurts to know, we didn't come anywhere near giving our best in that game.

4. It was the perfect season since 1958 snatched away.

5. As I said before, it was what an epic season that 2011 team could've accomplished. Beating the Rose, Orange bowl champs.

6. No win against Bama can ever avenge this particular loss. We'd have to maybe beat Bama 42-0 in a National Championship game. destroying their best season ever.

I can't take credit for it. Stole it from the LSUNY Metro Alum website.

If he had won on 1/9 he would have been forgiven for any past mistakes and for the next 2 years. Shows you how important that game was.

Unfortunately, he wasn't prepared and froze like a deer in headlights.

Why not look at it this way:

In 2011, the Great Nick Saban needed two chances to beat the Moron Les Miles. After proving he couldn't do it in his own stadium, he succeeded at a Neutral site AFTER his opponent, coached by that idiot Les Miles, had to win an extra game in which the Great Nick Saban wasn't even good enough to qualify for.

That is really what happened, after all.

Why does this "hurt"? Did you play?
If I were a player on the 2011 team, I can promise you the meaning of the BCSNCG would have been diminished in my mind the moment the "rematch" was announced. "Every Game Counts", remember? (Notice ESPN no longer says this, BTW).

Well, they still did that.

I agree with this to an extent, but reality is the part I put in bold will never happen. A lesser program like LSU would never be allowed a rematch against a name program like Bama.

That's not how CFB works. Know what you are watching before you allow something to "hurt" you.

He would get a pass. As it stands though, he doesn't. It's the difference between winning and losing. He didn't win in a season that could've went down in NCAA history. Instead, most of us want to forget how it all ended. That game highlighted all the negative attributes of Les Miles and to make matters worse it's one of the most embarrassing NC games I've seen in awhile. It wasn't even competitive and he should feel ashamed he gave up on his team during the game.

Nobody will ever remember how good LSU's season was that year because we didn't win it all. They will only remember how Bama finished it out. Champions are remembered, not losers. That's the cold truth behind that season.

Most pivotal game in LSU history. LSU would be on the roll Bama is on now. No one from LSU showed up that day though. It was an unmitigated disaster

Can't say that I disagree with any of this, other than the SEC Championship we won was cool if not bittersweet.
