I think you're just a dumbass because he's obviously been fighting hard because A) he starts B) i've seen him play in person 3 times this year C) Trent Johnson wouldn't be playing him (ala Terry Martin)

Good for you. I've had basketball season tickets for 14 years now so I'd say I've seen him play a little more than you. I never said he is a terrible kid or anything like that but when you have Q giving the effort he was today and CJ just going through the motions then Trent needs to sit CJ. KIND OF LIKE HE DID TODAY AND IT WAS THE RIGHT CALL.

Chris Johnson misses Anthony Randolph more than anybody else on the team. Johnson could get muscled around last year in the post, and know Randolph was still back there to clean up his mess. He doesn't have that fall back anymore, and he's just too thin to play against the big-time post players. He's still a valuable asset to this team and will be a difference-maker in later games. I hope he doesn't lose his confidence and keeps playing hard.

I liked it too. If our 6'11" "center" refuses to get tough under the boards than take his arse out. Trent needs to remind him he's not a fricking 6ft shooting guard so stop trying to play like one.

Dude needs to bulk up something serious...He played like a puss inside the paint on D.

CJ showed offensive skills in many games last year. He has proven capable in that regard against quality teams.

But his post defense is flat out terrible.

I think what we may have to do is give him help on D. Double the post occassionally. Because I do think his offense will come around and we'll need him on the court.

But his post D will kill us unless we help him.

CJ will continue to be a liability on defense because of his size. Sure, he'll block a couple of shots, but that doesn't make up for his inability to defend the post. That's not his natural position and his size won't allow him to stop big post players.

IMO, coach was willing to live with that as long as CJ produced on offense. He is not producing, so there is no need to leave him in the game. Q is a much better post defender.

Didn't CJ used to shoot 3's and more jump shots last year. It seems like he rarely does hat this year. I wonder if Trent Johnson doesn't want him shooting outside shots. I think that he was a better offensive threat when he was shooting more outside shots.

Yeah, his game is certainly limited so far this season. I think it has to do with Trent wanting to have him closer to the goal for offensive rebounds. Having him float on the perimeter would only leave Mitchell underneath.

Exactly Smokin. But IMHO CJ will eventually get his mojo back and will produce again on offense. He averaged 12 pts. a game in the SEC last year and quite frankly the SEC was better last year than this.

But again, we'll have to give him help on D to be able to keep him in for his O. Good bigs just back him down and drop junk hunks on him as easy as layups. We'll have to mix in double teams to keep them honest when Johnson's in.

i want to see him do what he did in years past and attempt more outside shots, he certainly has the ability to knock them down. it will help build his confidence around the goal if he can knock down some outside shots.
