In the past few years bowl seasons, if you weren't playing for the NC, everyone that was anyone was opting out. Why risk it. But the bowl games SUCKED as a result.

Teams were placed based on what they did throughout the year, but those weren't the teams playing in the bowl, a gutted one was.

Starting in '24, every team in the playoff has a chance so you won't see anyone opting out until they lose.

Teams in that 13-20 range will be playing hard till the end too, sure those top 10 teams can lose a extra game now but the regular season will be fun at the end.

Although - just wait till one guy opts out of the playoff - and one guy holds his team hostage wanting $1M to play in the playoff…

Sure is a sad state of affairs in society today - but it is what it is…

In general I do agree with you - but that will only last so long - why does a player opting out even really care about the championship- eventually we will find this out

I think this may be the case for a year or 2. But long run I think it changes nothing.

Wonderful!!!

So instead of having an entire season of playoff-like atmosphere, it will be reduced to a couple of weeks.

Some of you actually believe that this is progress.
