This is a bold face lie. No he did not. Kelly was very clear in the summer last year that LSU’s secondary had serious holes, was not at a talent level needed, and had no depth. He did say that they needed players to step up in a big way in order to be successful.
Then… Johnson broke his leg in camp, Brooks suffered a brain aneurysm, both were out for the year. Then.. we had two more serious injuries to Zy Alexander and Ashton Stamps that ended their seasons. So… a very depleted secondary going into the season was significantly devoid of any talent and depth.
