Is anyone else at least a little bit concerned about the lack of experience behind Fulton and Vincent out wide? I understand Stingley is advanced for a freshman, but it’s looking likely that we will also have to rely on Flott, Ward, and Hampton.
We have a ton of safety depth, so I’m guessing the coaches are comfortable sliding a few of those guys down to the outside at times too.
Thoughts?

I actually am, i feel like this is a legitimate concern.
We saw how fast DBs can go down last year.

We beat UCF without cornerbacks.

Kary can slide out and play corner if needed.

Only concern is that coaching staff may take stingley off returns if we get any thinner

O said today Ward made some plays. It's the 2nd practice in a row he's mentioned him.
In one of the practice videos put out by LSU you can see him breaking up a deep ball defending chase.
He's young and a bit slim though but he should be good enough to be the 4th corner.

I’m counting Vincent as a corner even though he primarily plays nickel. It’s just surprising to me that DBU only has 2 upper class corners and the rest freshmen.

Stingley, Fulton,
Vincent, Hampton
Raydar, Ward
Netherly, Flott
It’s certainly not the best depth we have ever had at CB, but I wouldn’t say I’m worried.
Edited to add Ward. Don’t know how I forgot him.

I’m excited about Ward and Raydar. Both are long and extremely athletic. Similar builds to Greedy.

Tharold Simon was a young, skinny 4th corner and he turned out to be a decent playmaker his freshman year

Oh yeah I forgot Ward. Nah we are fine on depth IMO.

Per Derek Stingley Sr., Mannie Netherly is looking good, and I believe Raymond can coach up at least one of the freshman CBs to start in a pinch.

Joseph was and is a safety. These young bucks were always going to have play some snaps..

Joseph played a lot of corner last year by my memory.

Legit concern. Coach O been talking up Cardale Flott and some others. But yeah, that's the most concerning thing to me besides replacing Cole Tracy. Bigger concern than OL IMO.

I’ve heard that people don’t give Mannie Netherly his due. the dude did just switch to DB last year
Posted on 8/6/19 at 7:42 pm to iamandykeim
Yeah man, Netherly got a couple of dimes dropped on him in the UCF game, but he was right there in coverage. I think he's going to surprise people and be a solid contributor this year.
