Can someone remind me why Elijah Cabell isn’t playing for us?

I remember him wanting out of his LOI after the draft, but now he’s playing for Florida State. Can’t remember the reasoning behind it.

He told the staff he was going to sign professionally, then asked to be released from his LOI, then signed with FSU.

He wasn't upfront, or was wishy washy, with our staff on what it would take for him to sign professionally so it didn't allow for our staff to plan around him. Since he couldn't make the decision so that they could plan around him, they made the decision for him.

I dont think he ever wanted to come here, just use us for leverage, when the leverage didn't work out for MLB, he wanted to stay closer to home. Just my opinion. Shame because it would have been nice to have a 5th outfielder on this team and one for the future. Things may have also changed for him when Watson and Duplantis both decided to come back, instead I'm sure FSU was telling him he would start right away. Matter fact, scratch the whole first bit, I bet them coming back was the main reason.

Thanks. I knew I remembered it being something kind of sketchy with him but couldn’t remember exactly what.

I think it was 80% this and 20% him not being given a starting spot as soon as he got here. It's a shame because he's going to be a great hitter one day.
