One other note...and I mean this in all seriousness so I'd appreciate it being taken that way. When this first erupted over a week ago many who jumped on Jefferson were saying things like, "What if the kid sent to the hospital was your kid?!?" It was an emotional question, but for me it made me think of the flip side of it. "What if the kid being accused of sending someone to the hospital in a brawl was yours?!?" It may me really consider it, and here's my take.
As a parent of 2 boys (though much younger at 9 and 4) my first reaction would have been to be pissed that they were there in the first place and put themselves in that position. Once they explained about the tradition of going out that night and I'd had a chance to think, I'm quite sure I'd have asked for their side of the story. Despite the fact that they were my child, I wouldn't believe it 100%...but I'd explain that I gave them the benefit of the doubt and the evidence better damn well support their claims. I'd then stand with them and support them in their fight to prove what they say happened. And if it turned out they were lying? I'd be disappointed in them but expect them to face the music...and yet they'd still be part of my family.
As an LSU fan, when these kids CHOOSE our program, they sort of become our defacto family. We cheer for them, we know about their personal lives and families often times, etc. Why should any of us be so damn eager to toss them away at the first sign of trouble...regardless of how serious some may consider the charge? Do they not deserve our support, and the benefit of doubt until we know they don't?

It's not about innocence or guilt here...when push comes to shove even the most adamant here will admit there is virtually no hard evidence in the public square that links Jefferson to what has been claimed. It's about the surest way to remove who they consider to be a bad football player from his position to install who they consider to be a better football player so that their football watching enjoyment goes up.
That's all.
True. And I hope I never get to interact with these assholes IRL...
They have to be miserable with themselves to care so much about a damn football game.
And don't get me wrong, I care too but there are a lot more important things in life then a game.

Sure. Anyone can sue over anything. He won't win though!

I can name about 5 posters right now that are more concerned about that, than they are the game saturday.

?
A man being charged with a felony and being suspended from a team for which he has sacrificed so much, to me, is more important than a game.
I truly pity you if you believe that a "game" is more important.

The only recourse he could possibly have would be suing the school for the suspension, Case would be immediately thrown out. There is no cause of action against the school.
In the student code of conduct it says that if a student is arrested for committing a felony, that they will be disqualified from participating in varsity athletics. Doesen't say convicted just arrested. I was paraphrasing there, but thats what it says.

I didn't put myself in that situation to begin with. Therefore I have no sympathy. If I did what he did I would not expect special favors do to my position in society.
