It's actually a nice example of the highly researched and publicized 'Fundamental Attribution Error'.

In simple terms, many negatigers internalize success and externalize failure. This trait can be psychologically beneficial but at extremes, which is common, often results in misplaced blame, irrational behavior and bizarre thought processes.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner. You've provided the perfect description of the average "negatiger".

I have a degree in psych. (which ive never used professionally or anywhere else....)..

I attribute it to young fans who are spoiled with success and dont realize whats being accomplished is amazing right now.

I don't think any team was luckier than LSU 2007. 2 losse don't get you to the title game very often. 2 losses to unranked opponents

Kentucky was ranked btw, and a very good team, don't distort the facts to attempt to win an argument bra. U cannot possibly be an LSU fan while doing that regarding '07. Also, Arky was an underachiever that yr and earlier they were ranked, laden with NFL upper round draftees.

Also, we never lost in regulation, and it took 3 OT's to down us each time, and Kentucky was on the road. And we proved we were top dog by geauxing what 30+ points unanswered on the top D that yr in the NC? we throttled OH State. Consensus #1 because of it. Shameful.

Finished 8-5. You really need to learn context of conversations before getting involved. Poster had said how lucky Bama has been in winning their last 3 titles. Any LSU fan that doesn't think we lucked out in making the BCSNCG that year is just incapable of facing The facts. Not only did we lose twice(never happened prior or since) but WV lost to Pitt in a huge upset. We were very fortunate(lucky) to make the title game.

To make it to the title game, EVERY team needs a few lucky bounces along the way ... be it upsets, penalties, injuries, etc. If not, the top 2 teams in the pre-season poll would always play for the national championship.

Do you really think an LSU fan should be using luck as the reason why Bama has won 3 titles after how fortunate we were in 2007?

Absolutely not. Anyone who doesn't realize that it usually takes some degree of luck is either a fool or a Bama fan (guess that's kind of redundant).

I think we can all agree we ALL were in a state of shock when WV was upset

I kept telling my friends it would happen but I didn't really believe it.

One key injury is all it takes to derail a potential BCSNC team ... once Pat White went down, it was over.

Oh, I read ur posts. U like to piss on ur own team u simultaneously claim to love. Just admit it, u lied bout Kentucky or perhaps you were just uninformed. They were ranked #8 one week b/f we played em. Arky was ranked #16 at one point and had one of the best rushing attacks all time in the SEC. Both their RB's r still starting in the League, 5 yrs later. LSU was clearly the best team that yr, nationwide, and it was even close, and we proved that in the NC game, again with the drubbing of the nationwide #1 defense that yr, 31 points unanswered. Can't get much more dominant than that.

Sure, we had some lucky breaks by others losing to their biggest rivals on rivalry weekend (far from uncommon). And we entered the NC game at #2.

But LSU also set the record that yr for most victories over ranked teams all time in the college game (luv to see u poo-poo on that one too). Which means they did the most w/ the toughest sched by far in '07. Yep, lucky. Again, voted consensus #1 by all coaches and press, not one dissenter. But u probly know betta right?

Arkansas was ranked in the top 10 early this year so do we count that as a top 10 victory?

Kentucky had started 5 or 6-0 (beat Louisville) and was coming off a loss to SC in which they were sacked 7-8x. We went to UK and maybe blitzed twice the entire game allowing their QB to pick us apart. Not too mention how we utilized Scott in 2nd half. UK should have never beat us. They went on and lost 4 of their last 5.

Where did Kentucky and Arky finish in the rankings in 2007?

ETA I love how you reference them being ranked #8 the week before against SC...why not just say they were #17 the week they beat us. Trying too strengthen your argument huh

Glad u showed everybody what this thread is all about. Great case study.

Again, LSU sets the record for most all time wins over ranked teams in '07 (we broke it by 1 in '11 btw, something Saban will never do, he has not tha nuts) and in the modern era and in the SEC's heyday, voted consensus #1 and some of our own "fans" call us "lucky."

U lied bout Kentucky. But are so proud u simply cant admit it. U would rather throw out strawman arguments, and piss on LSU's greatest accomplishment in their 100+ year history. Epic negatiger. Perfect case study.

Yes, but the diff b/t u and I is that you lied about your point and my point is a verifiable fact, yet you equate the two. Very telling. I mentioned #8 to show perspective, that you not just wrong, but very wrong.

What was UK and Arky ranked at the end of the year?

LSU finished 12th and 14th this year right? Or do you go with the highest ranking we had before the year ended?

Rankings change when teams lose. Strawman argument. According to your argument, LSU doesn't have that record. But yet we do. And it was widely circulated by the press as the main reason why the team was so great in '07 and made the champ game to begin with along with being the undisputed champion. Sorry you just dont see it that way. And that's the point.

Its about the way you see things, and what you choose to highlight, even going as far to distort facts, hoping no one will notice. Or maybe you're just uniformed, but I think its duly noted by observers where your perspective lies. And again, that's the point of the thread.

I was responding to another poster crying about how lucky Bama was. If you choose to see it as you do oh well. I have never once said I didn't think lsu was the best in 2007 or that we didn't deserve to be in the championship game.

But the other poster was stating very valid points bout bama being "lucky". But u say he is "crying" and hence attempt to reduce his very valid points for LSU against bama, to a caricature. All the while trying to highlight something negative bout LSU's greatest team and calling yourself a fan at the same time and one of your main points arguing against LSU turns out to be false. Now u wanna to try to act like ur being "misunderstood". Fetal position.

Hell, you even publicly stated that you like to flame Tiger fans who try to focus on the positive and have hope. Like u get some sort of sick pleasure out of it. This is the problem with our fanbase, and for me, I wish it would change, because its just completely unnecessary, inaccurate, unwarranted and overshadows so much of the greatness of the program. People like you think we are the laughing stock of the country for our offense but really the country is laughing at how so many of our fans act like spoiled brats.

What does it say about fans of a team to be so negative during even the Golden Years of its history? There is something very wrong with many LSU fans. When you read bama forums and even they repeatedly n routinely show Miles and the team more respect than our own fans do, its reached critical mass.
