I often run into my neighbor on gameday walking to get my newspaper. Our less than one minute polite conversations in the fall usually are about LSU football:

Him: Good morning, how’s it going?

Me: Great, how about you?

Him: Great, you going to the game tonight?

Me: Yup, I love going with the fall weather.

Him: Well I hope we do better than we did against Ole Miss.

Me: We beat Ole Miss by three touchdowns in Oxford.

Him: Yup, exactly.

We are living in a era of sports talk shows, internet sports blogs and sights. Where everything is analyzed, constantly talked about and scrutinized. When I was young when you heard that 2 teams had played there was only one question asked. And that question was,who won the game. It was the only thing that anybody ever cared about. Just because the times has changed the most important factor still remains the same. It is the way we are going to crown our National Champion. Now downvote away, you Jethro Bodine size bowl of crow eaters.

The OP’s point is this: Without great passion and great expectations from the fan base there is no great program.

Great Expectations from the fan base forced the firing of Les Miles. It forced Coach O to go all in recruiting Joe Burrow here from Ohio State. It forced changing the offense.

Why did you think Alabama rules SEC Football & Kentucky rules SEC Basketball year in abc year out? Great expectations & Great passion from their fan bases. They demand excellence. Really good isn’t good enough, it gets coaches fired.

Demanded excellence and expectations from the fan base create a winning culture. That’s the point.
