Saban couldn't have won a natty with that 23' defense.

You got it.....
You gotta pay to play, period.
The best coaches in the world cannot win without massive cash piles behind them.....

Maybe it’s just me, but it feels like BK going hard after an NC would include things like actually signing guys like Underwood, Moore and Stewart…

Look at the last 2 coaches at LSU who won Championships here, do you think Les Miles and Ed Orgeron was 1st class?
Pre-NIL and pre-portal era of CFB was a completely different era of the sport. So much has changed in the past 5 years that there’s really no point in comparing Kelly to Orgeron and Miles. Expansion of the CFP playoffs, looser transfer rules, and NIL has made it 10x more difficult now to field a talented, competitive team with good chemistry. I promise you that Orgeron and Miles would be struggling just as much as Kelly if either of them were coaching at LSU right now.

As an outsider. I will say this. LSU used to have a elite defense yearly. That's not really the case anymore and that to me is why LSU fell off a little bit. The offense is fine but defense still wins championships. LSU will be fine regardless.
