So, this assumes Burrow starts and Brennan is QB2. MB needs in-game experience to grow and develop as backup and heir apparent. Given that he can play 4 games and keep his redshirt, what strategy should O follow to develop MB while preserving his redshirt? Does he give MB significant playing time (1 quarter or so) in the powderpuff games such as Southeastern, La Tech, and/or Rice if we build up strong leads? This will also protect Burrow from injury in a non -conference game. Should O hold MB out until the last 4 games to ensure the redshirt doesn’t get burned?

Thoughts?

I think that for out of conference games we are up really big we throw Sale in there since it wont really matter. Then reserve MB for conference games we have a large lead in or god forbid Burrow goes down so that we preserve his redshirt

It’s a delicate situation. I would hold him from playing time unless Burrow goes down and there’s still a shot at winning the West

Giving Brennan reps lost us the Troy game last year. I’d be nervous putting anyone in a game until after the game is well in hand.

That loss is the most significant reason for LSU being undervalued this year. Amazingly, we were one game out of winning the SEC WEST last year. We actually outgained Alabama last year, if I’m not mistaken.

We are much closer than everyone thinks, in my humble opinion.

You play Brennan whenever possible. frick the redshirt. The only way he gets better is with game reps, not hamburgers.

You have to develop Brennan as the backup heir apparent without regard to the red shirt. Your number one guy could get hurt anytime. I do agree playing at least a quarter against southeastern would be good.

Maybe and I certainly hope so. So much of that depends on some big offensive unknowns, but I agree that we are being undervalued/underestimated.

Maybe you definitely play him vs southeastern, an SEC game with a big lead, and then contingency only after that.

Who says you can’t do both?
