Person leading off says to me that they want to get him as many at bats as possible in the fall to give him every chance to win a job (3B or DH). I think Jay knows this offense is going to lack power relative to his previous teams, and he’d really love Pearson and his power to force his way into the lineup.
Sounds like he’s gotten in good enough shape and should continue to before spring. He may not be ready to be a gold glove type 3B, but if he can be serviceable like Berry or even good like Tanks became and not a liability there, hopefully his power can more than make up for his defense (lack of lateral range). But he has to hit and hit for power consistently. Him in the middle of the lineup would really extend it. And there aren’t enough other candidates that can provide that, so Jay would really love him to take advantage of all the opportunities he appears to giving him in the fall.
Let’s hope he takes advantage. It would really help the entire lineup. We’ve got to have some guys who can change a game with a 3-run homer instead of relying on stringing together a bunch of singles and doubles. He’s definitely one to watch this fall.

I think this might be the first time this fall the hitters are seeing live pitching, so you would expect them to be a bit behind with their swing. Not sure about that--anyone know if this is the first live pitching for them this fall?

About 75-80 people, I think.
