I was agreeing with you Carl.
I know you were. I was just re-agreeing with you again.
Got it. Nothing like a good re-agreement for emphasis.
It looks to me like we are blitzing more than in past years (since Saban), yet we aren't getting there or we are just missing the QB (Cutrera). We only have 5 sacks.

Chavis is selective with his blitz calls. We'll usually see his blitzes on 3rd downs, an adjustment he made after the WU game. As for the "zone BS", it works. It isn't attractive to a fan who was used to a heavy blitzing team during Saban's era. It is less entertaining than a heavy blitzing defense, but it works none the less. Chavis' defense is all about the bend not break, which usually ends with the quarterback throwing an interception, which has happened many times this season.
As for the "are we going to see more blitzes", I don't see why we would. It just isn't Chavis to throw blitzes at the opposition a whole game. You will continue to see him call zone defenses more often than blitzes. The good thing is, it works, be thankful.

[u]Tackling. How many plays have opposing teams made where we had nobody around? Not many. The scheme is fine, it is the execution
Amen. This weekend was a prime example. All of the big plays we gave up should have been but either tackles were missed or balls were misplayed.

Rahim Alem needs to learn how to stop the run IMO....Moo St ran it right at him

ah, another "we don't blitz enough" rant guy, awesome......and the zone worked pretty well last year for chavis, maybe you just don't understand its advantages...
why do you think that the defense was terrible against Miss St? We gave up all of 17 points defensively. One of the TDs was a gamble by a younger cornerback, Hatcher going for a pick when we flushed the QB and missed 2 chances at a sack. So where was it that the zone messed up?
