Alsup walked himself out of weekend
Jones and Broussard had 2 walks each in short relief. None of the pitchers really set the world on fire. Ott did his usual thing.

An exciting weekend ahead verus CS Fullerton.
CSF is 4-2 on the road this season. In their 4 wins, they have only given up 9 runs total. They played TCU on the road and won 2 of 3. This CSF team will not be intimidated on the road. Their last meeting verus LSU was back in 2003. CSF holds a 4-3 advantage all-time verus LSU but is 1-3 at the Box.
Cal State has only given up 23 earned runs on the season through 11 games and has only served up one gopher ball all year. the titans have won 7 out of their last 8 games.
Looks like a low scoring weekend with great pitching. I would give the pitching edge to CSF and the fact that they have won on the road this year makes them more comfortable coming into the Box. It will be a great test for the Tigers young pitching staff. LSU is batting over .320 while CSF pitching is only allowing opponents to hit .217 on the season. Sounds like an early Super Regional type atmosphere in March.
I think this series can go either way but bc the Tigers are at home, I look for each team to take one game with the rubber game on Sunday to be up for grabs. I will go LSU wins a tough draining series 2 games to one.

i just dont see LSU as being prepared to play a team like this quite yet, considering the horrible competition played up until this point.
i hope i am wrong, but i think we will be lucky to win 1 game this weekend, even being that we are at home.
if our FR pitchers step up, then i can see us taking 2. hopefully they wont let the atmosphere get to them.

I don't find that we've hit the ball in rbi opportunities well enough in the past couple weeks. We've depended on our opponents errors to score a great number of our runs beginning with the SLU game, slipped by Valley, who was winless, and only winning 2 of 3 from Princeton after we've played 9 games, and they only beginning their season, by unimpressive scores can only mean that unless we improve dramatically we'll be lucky to win one this weekend.

I really think the key to LSU doing well this weekend is to keep Richy Pedroza and Anthony Trajano in check. Trajano has been a beast since he was inserted into the lineup a couple weeks ago. This week he wins the NCBWA National Player of the Week
In addition to Big West Conference Player of the Week honors, Cal State Fullerton infielder Anthony Trajano was named the Nationl Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Player of the Week after helping the Titans to a perfect 4-0 week over LMU and USC.
The junior college transfer batted .462 on the week and extended his hitting streak to five games while also accounting for half (12) of the Titans' 24 runs.
From the No. 2 hole in the Titan lineup, Trajano drove in seven runs and scored five times while also scoring or driving in the game-winning runs in each of the Titans' four victories.

I'm pretty sure Jacoby Jones hit over .600 one week.

They are a light hitting bunch(to put it nicely).
They have always been a small ball station to station team that will outhustle the crap out of their opponents. They have only played one game against an opponent the caliber of the teams we've played. Loyola Marymount, and beat them 5-1. Their other opponents were: N.Caroline lost in 11, 4-3, beat Long Beach 2 of 3, beat TCU 2 of 3, swept USC. They have 5 pitchers who have pitched 11 innings or more, with an ERA of 2.38 or less. Four of the pitchers have a batting average against them of .217 or less. The 3 starters have B/A of .174, .176, .179, and ERA's of 0.82, 1.71, and 1.82. I wouldn't think they'd need a heavy hitting club to win a lot of games.

They key is simple. LSU will have to score more runs than Fullerton. It's been that way since John Madden was coach.

LSU hits 35 HR's, scores 128 runs, and the Tiger staff strikes out 81 straight batters! kidding...
To be serious, this series should be a show stopper, the place will be electric like the skies over BR last night. Good luck to you guys, the competition will be great, but,
We got the broom ready!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Then come on back home and eat some 'real' food, and by the way, who you yelling for?

I generally don't "root" for either team when these two teams match up. I just hope for both teams to play well and to leave the series healthy.
I think Fullerton wins 2/3, but I think the series will be closely contested.

Fullerton wins 2 of 3, my friend I don't think the Abita has worn off yet!

nope i just hate the OOC schedule
we have a lot of new players, and this weekend is going to be like a kid that cant swim jumping into a deep end of a pool. we'll see if he can figure how to float or not.
it will be good preparation for SEC, and in reality is just a measuring stick series at this point. but would still like to see us a little more battle tested
