quote:That's true, but imo when considering the issue of "best player" with no specific qualifiers, getting on the field is a part of the equation (step 1, in fact). Collins was better than Faulk (or any of the other RBs, and possibly any of the other players), but his career contribution is so limited that he can't even sniff the discussion of "best player" in my book. Best talent? Quite possibly. Best potential? Again, sure. Best player? Not a chance with a career total of what, 600 rushing yards?
Collins was better than Faulk (at LSU) for the short time he was there- no question.

quote:True, in the same way you could make the case that Hosni Mubarak is the most popular and beloved leader in the world. Of course that case would be wrong, foolish, completely lacking in evidence to support it, and one no one would ever seriously attempt to make.
Hell you could make a case STanley Roberts was better than Shaq in college.
Stanley Roberts was barely ahead of Shaq when Shaq was a freshman. Shaq's improvement to year two and especially year three was amazing. Roberts barely stayed the same, and may have even regressed somewhat. No way was he the equal of Shaq.
Some people seem to think that because he has been so dominant in the NBA, his dominance in college has been exaggerated. Fact is, he was supremely dominant in the paint when he was at LSU. Watch that Kentucky game from '91 or '92, where they kept throwing up backwards shots and other absurdities because they knew Shaq was just going to swat away anything they brought in at him.
CJ was great, and my pick, but he never influenced the game on the defensive end the way Shaq did.

I put Cecil Collins because the man became a legend in just four games. Can't think of anybody eles that has done that.
