Tomy Casanova was the reason I became an LSU fan.

the guy was as dominant at collegiate & pro levels as a player could hope to be.

Lots of good choices, but Stovall should also be considered. He did it all and had a great pro career as well.

its Shawn.
and the answer to this thread is Tommy Casanova. Dude walked away from the pros as a top player in the league to move on with his life. Had he kept playing, he would be an all-time NFL great

I think it was Cassanova too.
But many could make this list, most already named here.
Kevin Faulk was amazing. Cecil the Deisel but he just had a short time and got in trouble. Y.A. if you want to go way back, and there was Bert Jones. Billy Cannon, Faneca was great but a lineman. Dorsey was the most decorated defense man ever in LSU history but hasn't panned out in the NFL. Lots to choose from.

Steve Van Buren
YA Tittle
Jim Taylor
Kevin Mawae
Alan Faneca
Those guys lead the list for me based on their Pro careers. All are either in, or will likely be in the NFL HOF

A man among boys for that era, I should have at least had him on my list.

I give Mawae about a 60 percent chance at HOF induction (and I may be selling him a little short) - and Faneca about 85. The problem for the youngsters is they played for Hallman and Dinardo, respectively, therefore the kids don't know anything about them.

Casanova was the best "football player", although he didn't have the longest pro career.
I'm surprised no one as advocated Bert Jones, for the same reasons. Under utilized by Cholly Mac.
We had a linebacker, Mike Brooks who was a serious talent, until injury got him.
Also, don't forget Estay and Winston, the latter of whom had a LONG, very successful pro career
