re: Best exit route after the game

I’ve always wondered what it’s like for the teams to leave after games. I assume they are stuff in the traffic forever too?

Anyone have advice leaving the staff lot at UREC and going to NOLA

Usually I take River Road to Brightside, forced right onto Nicholson, left on Bluenonnet to I-10

Once I turn into to Bluebonnet from Nicholson it’s easy sailing. But it takes over an hour for big games to get to that point,

I’ve tried staying on River Road to the casino which is even worse.

The inverse of this is how I get to campus. Post game, there are barricades at all side streets from River Road northbound. You wind up hitting the interstate from the Capitol Park area.

Someone mentioned heading the wrong direction and they are correct. Driving away from New Orleans for a couple of miles is the quickest way to the interstate. I park right by the corner you described in your post. I’ve had season tickets for 8 years. For 5 of those years I parked by the baseball stadium and got stuck in contraflow for an hour or more. I have a prosthetic leg, so taking advantage of free parking using my handicap placard seemed like a no brainer. I was wrong.
Now I park near chimes and Nicholson and drive away from the hotel I always stay at but I get there in a quarter of the time that I did for those first 5 years.

This is the way. I’ve done this last two games and was back on the interstate in matter of 10-15 minutes tops.
