If Malveto is still here on Wednesday, I'm ready for this.

I wouldn't mind more new coaches on D than just the coordinators, but thats a start.

Every coach on the defensive staff, and every player on defense, needs to be gone before we kick off against Tulane. Don't even field a defense. Just try to score every time on offense. That's basically the position we're in anyway, so why waste the money on salaries and scholarships that are doing absolutely nothing?

Not only is there no DC anywhere doing worse than ours, but there has never been a DC anywhere, at any level, that has done or is doing worse than ours. And only the most moronic head coach conceivable would ever hire one (or more) who would do worse.

Maybe, but he wasn't fired. He fricking quit. He left for greener pastures. And his defense has given up 35, 31, and 24 points their last 3 games.

He will not be fired. He did lead this team to the NC last year. He will be criticized through the media but the LSU admin will not even speak of firing him. Let's be serious!

Yes. We need to be better defensively. Yes. We need a better guy to kickoff and a better punter. Yes. We are in DESPERATE need of better play from the QB position. These problems can all be remedied without getting rid of Miles.

Also I'd like to say that Hatch is more than capable of managing this team. We would lose the threat of throwing deep but he is pretty accurate on short, quick passes. He shows more poise than Lee. It's not like Lee is connecting consistently on deep balls anyway.

He usually throws short passes and the defense take them all the way back for a score. YAC.

When (not if, with Malveto) we go 6-6 this year, he'll be on the hotseat going into next season. That's a fact. If they're still here next season, then the 2-10 season will finish him.

LSU put 488 yards on Muschamp's Defense against Auburn last year. 45 yards more than Georgia put on our Defense yesterday.

What if Mallory and Peveto just suck arse and it's not necessarily the system? I agree that having 1 person be accountable is ideal, but maybe these 2 just aren't good coaches.

Well, that's a given. They obviously aren't. What's really disturbing is that Les Miles had years of working with them every day to figure this out and couldn't. I don't care if he fires them tonight, hiring them in the first place has destroyed any confidence I ever had in him.

That's only 30 points a game. I would take that right now. We've allowed 40 a game in our last three games.

No players, regardless of coaching, could do worse than ours are doing now. No coaches, regardless of talent level of players, could do worse than ours are doing now.

It has got to be the most amazing coincidence in sports history that LSU has managed to find both the two worst coaches AND the 11 worst players in the history of defense in football...at the same time.

I didn't say he would be fired this year. I said he would be on the hotseat going into next year, and would be fired after that. LSU has too much money at stake to go back to the DiNardo/Hallman/Archer days. If nothing else, we have to have learned our lesson from that. You do NOT wait until some bastard runs the program completely into the ground before you make a change. When he demonstrates conclusively that he is completely incompetent (the only explanation for hiring Malveto), it's time to let him go.

Not if Miles demonstrates that he cannot fix the problem. Like, for instance, if Malveto is still "coordinating" the defense on Wednesday. I can forgive issues on the offense because they've actually played well at times, although, like many young teams they aren't consistent. Consistency isn't the defense's problem. They're VERY consistent. And that's the problem.

With this defense, the offense is pretty much irrelevant. In this situation, where you literally have nothing to lose, you might as well get the young guy some experience. The only drawback is the Jamie Howard syndrome, where you throw a guy into a hopeless situation as a freshman and ruin his confidence for the rest of his career. You could hand pick an offense from the current NFL rosters, and let them play 15 guys on the field at a time, and they could not win with this defense.

And 30 points. 10 below our average for the past three games against SEC teams, and below our average for the past 10 games against BCS league opponents.

There isn't a defense anywhere in the country playing worse than LSU. There never has been. And unless someone even more incompetent than Les Miles ever gets the chance to hire a defensive staff and recruit a unit of defensive players, there never will be.

There is NO DC in the nation that hasn't had a team yield a good amount of yards in 1 game or another. The guy has had great defenses. We put tons of yards in a home game that we BARELY won.

UGA put up those yards on the road, with a weak offensive line and missing quite a few players. We have given up 51 and 52 in games this year. Did Muschamp defenses also do that last year?

On the debate if Muschamp is good or not, I think Texas and Mack brown would disagree with you. They are definitely happy with him. In his first season, their defense has improved dramatically. Can't say the the same about our D.

come on..the talent is there..P Peterson, C Jones, Al Woods, Eugene, RJF (would have been except grade issues) all 5 star players almost all the rest were mid to high 4 stars..recruiting hasn't been the problem...development..scheming..

I don't think there's any debating whether or not he's good. It's just irrelevant to LSU. It matters zero. Buddy Ryan was pretty good too. Talking about him makes just as much sense.
