So are you saying that Brady's players were that good, and the current ones aren't?
This isn't his first year, and even though he has a young team he should be a little more competitive.

By a coaches third yr they should be alot better than where they or now. Alot better.

Not really because we had to rebuild so badly after Trent's first year. Trent is a great coach, he will have this program turned around soon.

As an LSU alum, I am embarrassed by this score and CTJ owes us an apology.

Bose is better than anyone LSU has. There's a reason he's on NBA radars. Not that he'll get drafted, but he'll get the looks and some tr youts down the road.
I've watched the guy for three years, played with him for a couple. I've played against over half the guys LSU has. Toly's better.
Trent's inability to lock up THE BEST local talent is why he's struggling right now. Guys like Bass and Spencer in the past weren't even top 10 guys in the state.
This team could be good down the road, but there's not one player I would consider dominant. I haven't seen Stringer yet, maybe he can get there, but dominant PGs usually aren't enough.

To be fair to Les Miles.....with Brady's players.

Looks like Brady was a better recruiter?

He definitely brought some serious talent to LSU.

The big problem right now is LSU doesn't have a "go to" player.
Even last year, they had Tasmin and you could pitch it in to him, and he could Charles Barkley someone down to the basket and shoot a jumper.
The closest thing I see now is a 5 and a half foot tall freshman, and that's not a good thing.
That game was screaming for SOMEONE from LSU to step up and no one did.
Looking at the positives, Darenbecker looked better than Friday, Green looked more adequate than last year (for the second game in a row). Ludwig, Dotson and Turner all regressed. Bass barely played.
I'm not even sure what Populist and White are doing on the floor, to be honest.

Yeah..we just have to look to the NBA to see what he brought.

Did this really happen? I better verify somewhere else.

Damn it. Sure it's one game, but that's really unexcusable.

yeah good point and all but we are talking about fricking NICHOLLS STATE
very unacceptable from all aspects....Concern for the basketball program has gone from level 1 to level 3.65

Well, that's kind of my point.
Against a team like Nicholls State, you should be able to find SOMETHING that works.
If that goofy Australian fricker can get something going, LSU SHOULD have someone that can.
I would have been okay with just clearing out and letting Stringer try to break people down and get to the free throw line.

How tall is Storm Warren? No way he's 6'7". I'd be surprised if he's 6'5". Anatoly Bose, who is listed at 6'6", was at least a couple inches taller than him.

I'm very surprised at the lack of execution on both sides of the ball.
On offense, we really don't look like we have an idea what we're doing. We don't screen and when we do we don't set up the screen or read the defender guarding the guy coming off the screen. These are the basics to offensive basketball. Brady never exhibited any of these traits, and I guess I though that Johnson being from where he's from would teach these things better.
On defense, I was surprised on Friday and last night how this team lacks the ability to help and rotate after the primary defender gets beat. If you can't guard 1 on 1 then you better see the ball and get to a spot to cut off ball penetration. I haven't seen much of this.
On the bright side, I think we do a much better job at defending the on ball screen than in the Brady era. I can remember during that time when all the opposing team had to do was set one on ball screen to get a quality shot. It seems Johnson has corrected this and they seem sound in this area.

the details and reasons don't really matter. There is no way that LSU, with all its resources should ever lose to Nicholls State. Somehow I doubt Nicholls is that Butler-esq diamond in the ruff waiting for a breakout season.

The details and reasons don't matter??? I understand that we're a football school but geeze the lack of basketball knowledge in this town is ridiculous....which is why we can't hire a good basketball coach...because no one (not even the people making hires) knows basketball.
