I just saw this video on the LSU AD home page. The thing that got me right away was how tired CWW looked. The always energetic and optomistic Wade was worn out and not as up as usual.
The little hints he gave through the questions and answers seemed to indicate that he was still having a hard time getting the team to play team defense his way. He knows there is very little room for error if we are to get some W's.
I think it is starting to sink in as to what a tough situation this first season is going to be. One of the things that seemed to be bothering him is Epps is out with injury and will be for at least a week with an ankle problem. He has talked up Epps a lot as being a very key part of this club at the four position. His plan for offense looks like four players out and one in, with a lot of picks set for the shooters and the four can either flash in for a close shot or stay on the perimeter and shoot three's.
CWW thinks Epps can be very effective shooting the three which will really open up things for the other players on offense. At 6'10" Epps is a tough matchup out there. His backup will probably be Wayde Sims who is a good player and shooter but is only 6'5 or so.
A general lack of big men is our biggest weakness. After Reath and Epps who are both 6'10", our next biggest player who is likely to get a lot of playing time is the 6'7" Coombs, a transfer who has also been injured and is just starting to practice. After him is Sims and a bunch of 6'4" guards.
So I still like Coach Wade a lot and think he was a good choice. But the fans who blamed everything on coaching last year are thinking that now that we have a good one it will be lots of wins, may have to wait another year for that to happen. Let's hope we don't finish last as predicted but if Reath or Epps are out with injuries for any length of time it will be very tough to get a win.

I think most know it's going to be one of those seasons that's all over the place and the team could look different one game to the next. But serious work is being put in behind the scenes. Read the articles on tiger rag, wade has been talking up Waters a lot lately. W/L won't matter to me this year as long as these guys are putting in the work and doing the things that haven't been done around here in years. Optimistic they'll win 15-17 reg season games.

Bro I’m gonna go down to Fogleman on Tuesday for that game I think

I'm with you S! I can get behind a team that gives you everything they've got no matter how many wins. And I know we do have some talent at the guard position. Waters, Mays and Sampson should excell and score a lot of points. I believe we will be much improved on the offensive side of the ball and in shooting percentages.
But basketball is a game where inches really do matter, especially on defense. I just shudder at us having to go through a tough SEC with our defense again. Wade knows this as well. He said that day's practice was to be all defense.

Any expectations for Kiir this year? 5 min a game? Is he ready even?

I'm just excited to see a team that will play with some effort and will be accountable.
Sad to say really, as that should be a given....but just give me that this year and we're already leaps and bounds ahead of where we were the last few years.

quote:Wade said he was out with an injury also but not as bad as Epp's and he should be back sometime next week. I really don't remember Wade saying very much about him at all in any of his other media appearances. I suppose that mean's work in progress. I keep forgetting about him because he hasn't been mentioned much. But at 6' 9" he will have to play I would think. How many minutes? Don't know. Let's see him in a game.

The state of the program is a far cry from my days at LSU 05-09. Here's a list of all of the players from those teams that have been on an NBA roster: Temple, Big Baby, Tyrus, Chris Johnson, Tasmin, Magnum, Randolph, Thornton.

of course but better than it was when Brady took over not even considering the impending probation. So if Brady could get the program there, the hope is we've got someone better here now and the future is bright.
