Auburn lined up in a 3-1-7 most of the game, and we finally went heavy ground n pound in 3rd/4th quarter to put the game away. What can we expect from Bama? Do they mimmick Auburn, and if not do we proceed with the norm all season?

CEH is the most underrated back in the conference. But if I was Saban, I would make our offense prove Bama needs extra defenders in the box to stop the run. My guess is he tries to take away the middle of the field and force throws to the boundary where completions have the lowest percentage.

That's where Chase excels though so we have that going for us

So if coach Saban decides to not put extra defenders in box we pound them early n often. By second quarter he brings in extra defenders then Joe lights them up on back end? I feel like if we went run heavy in first half against auburn it would of allowed Joe to open up the passing game. I think we have a potent running game and a potent passing game. We didn’t execute it perfectly against Auburn but I feel now we have learned from our mistakes.

Alabama is gonna run either cover 3 match or cover 1 rat most of the time

They’re gonna run 3-3-5, similar to our defense and then 4-2-5 or 4-1-6/3-2-6 on passing long downs or 3/4 wide sets.

We HAVE to run the ball to keep their pass rushers at bay. Auburn got their pressure up the middle with Brown. Davidson is more of a 4i guy and didn’t provide much edge pressure. Big Kat was their edge guy and we held tf out of him. Alabama has multiple Big Kat types like Terrell Lewis and you can bet your arse we won’t get away with holding them.

Luckily, Alabama’s interior DL has fallen off with Barmore looking the best out of the bunch but he’s still very streaky and inexperienced. Their ILBs are out of place often and if we establish a run presence they’re gonna get wrecked with RPOs and PA with crossers and TE drags/ins.

Attacking the middle of the field and keeping their ILBs confused is the key to this game as their safeties and corners are all quality.

To take away some of the pressure from their ILBs they’re gonna pull their star safety down into the middle as a rat either in cover 3 or cover 1 to shut down slants and in routes as well as provide another defender against runs. When this happens, there’ll be some one-on-one opportunities to hit our wide receivers on the perimeter with back shoulder fades and streak routes but Burrow will have to be extremely accurate. There can’t be any 50/50 balls because Bama will make us pay.

ETA: typing this up made me giddy. It’s fun that LSU has a real offense now that can actually threaten a defense and force a real chess match

Saban is going to mix up his looks. He isn’t going to let Joe or our play callers get a feel for what he’s doing. I believe he wants to take Burrow away much like Auburn tried to do and make the run game beat them. I never thought I’d say that. I’m not sure bama has the horses up front to do what auburn did.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm No. bama does not have the horses up front to do what auburn did.

Whatever horses they have, you can bet they will be turned loose.

50/50 balls are 100% LSU's
