With the NCAA still not passing the transfer waiver does anyone know what he’s going to end up doing?

Sounds like he has more issues than where he is going to play football
To transfer he would need to enroll in his new school to get acclimated and take part in spring practice

For his talent, hopefully he figures it out and gets back on track wherever that may be.

As of right now, Arik doesn't know where he's going to end up.

If he were to transfer to another SEC school he would have to sit out next year.

To even transfer and get a waiver approved to play next year somewhere else, he'd need to 1) have the waiver approved by LSU; 2) be in good academic standing; and 3) not to be on any disciplinary suspension. Even if LSU signs off on 1, he may face issues with 2 and 3. People here seem to blame weed every time a player is rumored to transfer or opt out because they want to avoid suspensions. Based on the waiver requirements, you can't transfer to avoid a suspension. And given he may or may not be enrolled in classes this semester anywhere, he may not have enough credits to play in the fall. Most football players will take the minimum in the fall and load up in the spring/summer to make sure they have the required hours to play. If he's not enrolled in classes (not sure I've seen confirmation one way or the other), he may have some issues getting enough credits to be eligible to play in the Fall. Kid seems like a headcase regardless.

Folks need to remember that he is an 18 yo kid. I would have lost my mind if I were under half the pressure these football players are at that age. I hope he comes out of this OK.

The most logical and rationale thing said about Gilbert. Kudos.

No kidding. But why hasn't Marshall gotten a shatstorm of derision like Gilbert?
He was a more important player than AG, just gave a big speech about Team, and then quits before the biggest game of the year.
I'd say he didn't want to take the chance that Surtain might hold him to 2 or 3 catches. Lack of faith in his team and himself.

Meh, athletes, and football players especially, are the most coddled and catered to students on campus. I get COVID sucks, but they are provided with more opportunities to socialize and "be normal" than most students on campus. And what pressure is he really under? He was a starter from day 1 with absolutely no shot of being surpassed. Not to mention we sucked last year, and he wasn't under pressure to carry the team, and no one ever blamed him for anything. I get being 18 years old and having emotional issues or being "home sick"; however, having emotional issues isn't an catch-all excuse for any scrutiny he may face pertaining to how reliable and forthcoming he is and has been. He's been wishy washy since his recruitment. This isn't exactly new for him. I'm honestly over it. This is the time for him to learn how to be an adult and to grow up. We all have or had to do it eventually, and we all dealt with pressure from different things at that age. Part of becoming a man is learning how to deal with obstacles life throws your way.

Guess we need to bring all the 18 year old soldiers home from overseas then.

What's your point? First, we've all been 19 (well, most of us at least). I know what it's like. Second, what does him being a football player have to do with growing up?
