fwiw, when saban left, the only coach that had interest was petrino. Why is that? Coaches intimidated by TD?

This is exactly why you don't give coaches huge long-term contracts. Very few coaches are great for long periods of time.
I've never understood why coaches always get big extensions after 1 or 2 good seasons. If they leave, they leave . . . who cares. Coaches are very replaceable and few are good enough to warrant long term extensions/contracts.
