What outfielders do we have who have proven they are both good hitters and good defensively?
Please tell me you aren't suggesting Fields is a good or adequate college hitter. On a bad lineup, he was the worst of the worst.
Let's just call a spade a spade: he was an average/above average fielder with a weak arm, a poor hitter and a non-factor on the basepath.
The question then becomes whether, with limited scholarships to hand out, that is the type of player you must have on your team.

Nope. I'd rather take a chance on an incoming player.

I hate when our outfielders don't go out of bounds....

You have to be careful, you could say the same about JaCoby and I don't think people believe that guy can't play.

you cant be serious.
he hit like .205 on the year and played the majority of the season. If it weren't for the 2-3 week tear he went on and hit .400 plus, his avg would have been well below .200.

Jacoby had an excellent 1st year here.
Jacoby's freshman season >>> the 2 weeks Arby actually hit.

The most telling thing to me about Arby is how he absolutely sucked balls in all midweek games he played in against incredibly shitty opposition. That says more than anything else.
