I am sure Hatch never thought he would play a down for LSU much less ever start. He came to LSU to be a coach.
Not true. He only came to play.

You think? When did he think he would get this chance? RP would start, then Jefferson and Shepard.
Hatch is smart. He will be a coach. He didnt come to hold a clipboard and he knew coming in his chance to start was about O.
He has his chance now! And I hope he is the biggest surprise of the year! Good luck Hatch!
Welcome to varsity Div1 football in the SEC!!

So.....but what else do they have?

More people would still know who the 3 time defending 1-AA QB is before they would know who Hatch or Lee are.
Then why are you surprised he's a better QB compared to the inexperienced QB's we have? If you mean who would have thought in 2005 that App. State would, only 3 years later, have a better QB, I guess I see your point. But it's not unusual for D 1AA teams to have outstanding QB's. Edwards is very special college QB.

If that is the case, then he would be playing in D1A.
do you people really not recall that andrew hatch came from harvard? would he be playing d1 ball if crowton wasnt a coach at lsu?
this is just retarded. edwards has proven on the field that he is a very good quarterback, and against quality teams. not just michigan, who he went 17/23 against for 220+ yards, but a few other 1aa teams that are better than tulane, north texas, and other teams lsu will play this year. hatch and lee have proven nothing.

Says Who? You! LSU may destroy this guy. Just sayin! We will find out real soon. I'm not going to say that their QB is better than our QB until I see Hatch and Lee in game conditions. Who knows, we may very well have the better QB that is a good fit for our offense.

I mean, LSU probably will destroy Appy St. That won't reflect too much on Edwards though, he can't beat LSU by himself, nobody could. Appy St is a lot better with Edwards as their QB though than they would be with Hatch.

this is one of the reasons i dont come over to the rant as much as i use to, b/c of you stupid F@#$%, if he was better, then why is he not playin 1A ball
Jerry Rice did not play I-A football. Terrance Owens did not play I-A football. Walter Payton did not play I-A football. Terry Bradshaw did not play I-A football. Charlie Joiner did not play I-A football. Kurt Warner did not play I-A football. Tony Romo did not play I-A football. Steve McNair did not play I-A football. Michael Strahan did not play I-A football.
Also, Randy Moss did play I-AA football.
Starting to get the picture? Though, of course, the average I-A team has more talent than the average I-AA team, there have been some extremely talented players in I-AA as well as D-II.
Otherwise, Armanti Edwards is an extremelly dangerous player. It's true that he probably would never have been given a chance to play quaterback by a BCS league team because of his size. But he's going to be one of the fastest players on the field, he is extremely elusive, and he is a very efficient passer as well.
Be thankful that LSU's coaches will not underestimate him to the extent that you have.

Genius! I wish I'd have thought of that myself. App State would not be as good with any of LSU's quarterbacks in the position as it will be with Edwards there.

Everyone who thought there was a chance R.P. could get kicked off the team.

well maybe i havent seen him much but
i know edwards is good, if he had the size he would have alot more respect.
NO if he would be at a Div1 school then maybe he would be good to talk about.

Its a question of matchups. Appy will be eaten alive by our D - period.
Then we will see who is the more effective QB
Then we will see who is the more effective QB

Guys you forget that hatch was at BYU before his Mormon mission and transferred to Harvard. He blew out a knee on the mission playing soccer. Thought he was done. he is a very smart determined man and he has every opportunity to do well and every reason to show poeple that he's no joke. I believe he has more reasons to be motivated that AE and flying below the radar is great for him....and Lee.

Suffice it to say, that as of right now Armanti has the rings and the street cred to say he is better.
i am not saying AE is not better, but this only proves he has accomplished more, not that he is better. By this logic, the CB on App is better that P. Peterson. I am not sure there is a person on this board who will agree to that. Just b/c JL, or AH have not accomplished somthing does not mean they are not as good. This question cannot be answered. AE HAS accomplished more, can we say is better, not in my opinion. Honestly, i think he is in for a rough night. One of the main differences in FBS and DI is that in his conference games, he is the fastest, quickest guy on the field, every play. In DI, not so much, all of the CB's and LB's can catch him, and SOME of the DL, and when they do, he loses a half a step each time they pound him.

No idea how old you are but 2002 seems like it was pretty thin.

I guess since they have much better qb's than us, I guess that is why he is starting for a Div II school.
JOE FLACCO was a first round pick coming out of delaware. Needless to say some of the great quarterbacks have emerged from Div II.
