It was Vandy and Oklahoma, but my point is Tulane also has 2 losses to unranked teams, but no wins over P4, much less a ranked opponent. Alabama has 3 wins over currently ranked opponents and 5 over P4 bowl eligible teams. No way Tulane is even close to being more qualified.

I think the committee uses the AP and coaches polls as a reference point for their considerations. So it still has some weight.
This is on the committee, not the AP.
The committee should sit down and go conference by conference, select the teams they consider to be contenders and then rank them based on strength of record and strength of schedule.
Using the AP is lazy.

Tulane’s only P4 games were against currently unranked Kansas St and Oklahoma. They lost both. In what world does that make them more qualified?
The world in which people salivate over the thought of the underdog winning it all.
If Boise State had not had success they've had in prior years, people would be grandstanding at them deserving a bye despite them looking shaky their last 3 games defensively.

It’s a poll based on press opinions. That’s all it is. It is what it is. They look at whole season and not just one game.

Tulane would be 4-8 at BEST with LSU’s schedule
Maybe 5 wins, but the O/U would probably be set at 4.5

Alabama will sneak in by NOT playing in SECG with a chance of losing that game.
