Where did you get that the guy was from Tennessee.
He could have been just a homegrown a-hole.
It was impressive that you could hear Les's glare first, and then the silence as the a-hole wilted.

also really appreciate his great sense of humor and his willingness to "clown around." it makes him human, in the best sense of the word, and approachable. I think that has to be one of his great strengths and among the reasons why his players love him
I agree totally, the players love him and give him all they have and they believe in what he is trying to do... that goes just as far if not further that x's and o's... You also have to love the way he handles his business, like with the coaches... even when gets rid of them, it comes across like its the coaches idea.. it all has to make for a very good enviroment to coach and play in..

Dude tried to make a smart remark about two QB's playing at LSU and compared it to the situation at Tennessee a few years back ( I believe one of the QB's was Ainge). Then the guy makes the statement, well don't the players in the offense get used to hearing one QB's voice?
Miles replies:Did you ever play football?
The guy:Yes, at a lower level
Miles: Offense or defense
The Guy:uh...offense
Miles:Well when the QB calls play EVERYONE hears it. EVERYONE.
The Guy:dead silence
The crowd started laughing and I'm sure that guy got looks like "what the frick were you thinking?

Guy was asking Miles (Live Audience) about playing two QBs disrupts the flow. Miles answered it with his usual "two quality guys who can...." so the guy decided to chime in again "Well you know....this reminds me of back when...." Miles cut him off said "Do you play football?"
Guy said "Excuse me?"
Miles: "Do you play football?"
Guy: "I did some years ago..."
Miles: "Offense or defense?"
Guy: "Er...offense"
Miles: "Well....when the QB calls the (something) everybody hears it...."
The crowd was quiet as hell for a while then a few laughs came in and then the whole crowd started laughing. The guy said nothing after that.

Is there somewhere online I can hear this?

You have hit several nails on the head. Other coaches are tightly wound; Les is not only at least as tireless as they are, but he also enjoys what he does and does not take himself too seriously. Contrast that with a radio interview this week with Derek Dooley, who sounded way too tightly wound; he actually said that if you don't play well, "LSU will humiliate you." Miles has never expressed fear of an opponent. (So expect a win this week but don’t count your chickens before they hatch.)
Les does have a great sense of humor, a natural talent (and a major mark of a smart person) missing from almost all elite coaches and most people.
Yes he is approachable. You could ask him any aggressive question, and unless you were being personally disrespectful, he would deflect your anger with his winning smile and easy attitude. He sure must me a good father. I hope he writes a book.
