My wife just asked why he was yelling at the punter; they are up 29 - 0? I said because he never quits coaching. The next the time he muffs a punt, it could 7 - 6.

And yelling = coaching?

I've seen Les go up to players and have a word with them when they've screwed up. Most of you already think Les is an idiot, so I suppose a jacked up idiot would be better than a composed one?

And how would that make the players any better off?

apparently, the general sentiment out there is that we should just hug them more, and be patient. After all these are just "kids".

It's the passion that Saban has that builds respect. Or perhaps "bench-ing" someone when they act like a jackass (ooops- i mean bonehead).

Why are we so damn afraid to let these kids know when the f-up?

So none of you think Les gets on his players' arse when they screw up? You think he just pats their hand and says, "You'll get em next time, champ?"

Somehow, I think not.

I just think he doesn't lose control and cuss them out on national TV the way Saban does. Saban is a good coach, no doubt about it, but I never liked that about him.

How else do you explain the sickening lack of discipline and accountability on this team? It only got WORSE as the season progressed.

post of the day, IMO.

Anyway. Les was not whispering sweet nothings in Jackon's ear after the Personal yesterday. PLEASE go back and re-watch. He was definatly pissed at the guy. I think he tries to treat players more as "adults" and as such gives them some respect, even when pointing out flaws and/or mistakes. And he's just a more laid back person, in general. I think Saban treats them more as intruments of his to use "relative" to his plans and objectives on the field.

Well, there could be lots of explanations.

No team leadership.

No confidence in a quarterback.

young players who are still gaining experience.

I haven't really seen lack of discipline until the last game. I've seen lack of effort, lack of fire, lack of knowledge. But we played with less discipline last year (I remember lots of dumb penalties - holds, blocks in backs, etc.) and we won a championship.

I still don't buy that Les chewing arse on the sidelines makes him a better coach. JMO.

you have GOT to be kidding me! MAybe we should never spank our kids either.... And while we're at it, maybe we should start treating terrorists like adults too and try harder to understand their positions. Lets all just keep hugging!!!

Les reminds me of Dinardo in that respect.

This has nothing to do with parenting or the way we treat terrorists. I beleive that Les does discipline his players. He just doesn't do it in front of the cameras.

I whip my kids; I just don't do it at Walmart in front of everyone.

Just not how I roll and I believe Les feels the same way.

But Saban goes overboard. Would you want to be castigated like that on national TV for being human?

I don't mean I want to see Les go apeshite like Saban, but I would like to see him get in their faces once in awhile to let them no he expects better.

Too much money involved, now, for that kind of thing. Don't want to get hoarse or maybe get a muscle spasm. Have to be in tip top shape to spend.
