That would require independent thought, something very rare on the Rant.

I listed all the long drives that made us stay on the field forever. Plus the 3 and outs with Etling the starting QB didn't help.

Plus the 3 and outs with Etling the starting QB

Lol. It's not Cam or Les......

Brandon! Get back to that playbook! And the bench!

Tiger's are one to two more classes short on depth
for d-line playing 3-4, maybe a few more top notch corners

I think it will be a great defense. Granit, it don't help when you're offense goes 3 and out often. Our safeties are still a little bit of a liability. Jefferson makes plays, but seems like he is out of position often. Definitely need to get off the field on 3rd down!

Want me to pull up all the threads about it being BH fault and a change was needed at QB?

Since Etling has been in not a damn thing has improved with our offense.

ok, but you can't deny our D gave up 18 points and we lost the game. you can't blame the loss on the D.

I'll give you that.

If Auburn can move the ball on us like that (granted they didn't score TD's) I hate to see what Ole Miss, Alabama, A&M , Arky will do to our defense.

Absolutely not trying to blame the defense for the loss. That would be foolish as hell.

The defense has been the better squad by far, but it is also giving up yards relatively easily so far to underwhelming offenses. If this team is going to compete with our remaining schedule, they are going to have to get off of the field with more frequency and not by giving up points (even field goals).

They will if they give up 8 play drives more than 7 times like they did in the Auburn game

And gave up zero TDs.

Since you did all the work, go back and see how many of our offensive drives went less than 7 plays.

We have yet to win the time of possession or total offensive plays battle in a game this season. Our D has performed well considering it is a new system. It has been a "bend but don't break" unit.

We already knew our offense sucked and they had a pretty good Defense.

What we didn't know was how they were gonna drive up and down the field all night on us. That's why they are Auburn because they always frick it up and not score.

You give up 18 on the road in the SEC, you should win. Period.

3 and out offenses doesn't help a defense. Auburn O did not smoke our defense. The defense was bend but don't break and gave up ZERO touchdowns while being on the field for 75 plays and 35 mins.

Our offense ran 59 plays and was on the field for 27 mins. 3, 3, 6, 7, 4, 2, 6, 8, 4, 3, 3, 13 those were our offensive drives.

Sad huh? Worse than that is you trying to pass fault to a defense that is still learning the scheme while only giving up 16.75 pts per game and are ranked #21 total points allowed. We are ranked #35 in total defense. Enough said.

Our offense???
ranked #111 in the country in total offense
#110 in scoring (21 pts per game)
#96 time of possession
#119 in total passing offense with 99 attempts
#100 in first downs

I agree with you...however, we need to get past the "bend but don't break" tendencies as quickly as possible. It may not be fair, but when a team forces your offense into a three and out, it is time to step up to the challenge of giving them one right back.

In addition, Aranda didn't get a bunch of guys without experience (9 starters). With the offseason and the games to date, they should be playing at a higher level.

At the end of the day it's about points given up. The defense gave up 16 (plus scored a TD which means they were -9) and 18 (with zero TD's) in both losses.

I'm sorry but that should be enough to win any and every game.

And I agree with you. However, our D has zero rest time and they are back out there. That is very little time to catch a breath and get coached up.

It will come. Our offense has to sustain drives, especially in the 1st half, to keep our guys fresh late in the game.
