A legitimate, sincere "thank you" for posting this. I really wanted to catch his debut when it finally came. Upvote.

I would hope ESPN would air this game tonight since it is Sox/Yankees.

It'll actually be on MLB Network

It won't be long until we are hearing about Aaron Nola getting to the bigs, too.

He had a bad debut, but he also has 30 K's in 31 innings

quote:

Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Aaron Nola struck out four batters over five innings, scattering five hits and a walk while allowing one run for High-A Clearwater on Friday.

Nola did well against a lineup that included prospects Colin Moran and Avery Romero, and is now holding batters to a .229/.260/.427 line. The Phillies are fast-tracking Nola, and he should make his major league debut in mid-to-late 2015. Jul 26 - 11:57 AM

quote:

Phillies prospect right-handed pitcher Aaron Nola allowed one single and struck out five batters over five shutout innings for High-A Clearwater on Monday.

Cliff Lee pitched the first two innings and Nola went the next five, giving Phillies fans a view of a frontline starter and one who has the makings of a frontline starter. Opposing batters are hitting a meek .135/.200/.243 against Nola over his first three starts, though he has allowed just two singles over his last nine innings. Nola could be in Double-A before the end of the season, and could be pitching for the Phillies by the middle of 2015.Jul 8 - 8:35 AM

Because i dont think he'll be in the majors as soon as some people want to think. I do believe he'll have a long career as a mid rotation guy.

You say this as if Nola has been struggling. He's had about 5 quality outings in about 6 outings after his first game jitters.

I don't think the Phillies have been disappointed. He has shown some flashes of being a MLB pitcher, but he also has shown that he can get hit hard if he throws too many strikes. Kind of like his freshman year at LSU. With experience, he'll continue to get better.
