All they have to do is make enough stops(like they have done every single game) in order for us to out score the opponent. So far, they have done that every game. Is it pretty? Not at all, but we beat Bama, Auburn, Florida, and Texas by making enough stops. Everyone is acting like that didn’t happen. It’s bizarre.

I get this. However, what wrong with wanting the defense to fix the fricking problems and actually improve beyond just good enough to get one score wins vs good teams?

Is it ok for experienced LBs to not know what is going on or what gap to fill on run plays going into gams 12? Is it ok to give Bama a 75 yard TD pass that puts the game back in doubt because we forget that you can’t let a WR get behind the last guy in that position at the end of the game? Is bad tackling no big deal now? These are not complex schematic issues. They are all basic mistakes.

All of these things should be correctable. If they were corrected, then LSU is still number 1 and they have a 2 score win over Bama and a blowout win vs Ole Miss. Tell me what’s wrong with wanting the defense to clean up stupid mistakes and improve? I don’t understand why mediocrity on defense is just fine now that the offense is great.

the D is avg at best. Joe will have to win all games going forward. It's not about a balanced team, it's about a winning team. I will take winning over balanced. We win with Joe.

So on an 85 man team, we only need to send Joe out there alone and we win? He blocks for himself, catches his own passes and is the running game. AND he single handedly defends against the other team. Joe Burrow, Superhero.

In reality LSU's offense is stacked with NFL players. I believe every starter has a chance to make an NFL team. The WR corp is arguably the best in the nation, with very few drops. CEH is playing as well as any RB in the nation. The OL is a finalist for the best in the nation. But let's give all the credit to Joe.

Even Joe recognizes this is a team sport and gives credit to his teammates. Last year when Joe didn't play as well, his teammates were thrown under the bus by fans and blamed for drops, less than great running game and terrible offensive line play. Shouldn't they receive some props for the success of the offense this year?

Exactly.

And the LSU average "Margin of Victory" (22 1/2 points) is LSU's highest in the last 100 years.

Not exactly.
2011 LSU Margin of Victory 26.4
Of course there are still games to be played, so there's a chance to catch 2011, but ultra slim considering the opponents left.
Just win baby.

You’re exactly right. And these same folks were probably making fun of Big 12 defenses a few years ago.

I know Bama fell off on D this year, but they have far worse injury issues than we do and are playing even more young guys. Whatever you want to say about their SOS, OSU and Clemson have put together better defenses to go with big play spread offenses.

It is possible and I do think we will be better next year. I just hope Aranda can tighten up the basics during the break before the playoffs.

You are correct. Prior to the Auburn and Alabama game, LSU's 2019 margin of victory was the highest in 100 years - 28.8. Thanks for the correction
