Colt and Bradford were exceptions there is no doubt about this. We are getting solid qb recruits, they are not being developed properly

Without a doubt you can find some diamonds that weren't highly rated out of high school.

Say what you want about Perriloux's off the field antics, the talent was there. His first real start he had over 200 yards passing. Trying to get Jefferson there is like watching paint dry.

Let's take a look at the WR position.

Toliver
Randle

And just like the QB position, you get the Lafells and Josh Reeds that turn out better than expected. But I see a lack of focus on the elite player at QB. We currently have no QB on the roster that was an elite HS player. The law of averages eventually catches up with you..

When both JL and JJ were recruited out of HS, both came to LSU with great (elite) potential. It has not developed in either one. Is that because their HS hype was over the top? Or is that because their skills were not coached up to the next (college/championship) level? I think the latter is more true than the former. I look at this coaching staff like I look at a block of Swiss cheese - lots of holes.

Memo to the LSU HC: Holes are ok with Swiss cheese. Not ok with LSU football.

Oh, and if RP was the whole hope for LSU, then that was a not very good or smart way to build a team. LSU went there once before, back when Nelson Stokley was our prize amazing young QB - he got injured and LSU had no answer for his absence. More building blocks to a team than any one player, no matter how good he may be. Too many holes in the Swiss cheese.

Neither qb has a sense of urgency it seems like

I like the Gilbert kid. Played well in the national championship game.

Then maybe we need better judges of QB potential. I went to many of Andrew Luck's, Matthew Stafford's, and Garret Gilbert's high school games. There was no doubt how good they were. I also went to Ryan Perriloux's high school games. There was also no doubt.
