But this notion that JJ was a horrible qb his entire career makes the lsu program look like shite.
Both were Tigers and both contributed to one of the most dominant teams in LSU history vs a brutal schedule.

How many quarterbacks had more than 678 attempts in their careers at LSU with 100+ attempts in their sophomore, junior, and senior seasons?
I can think of one that played less than 10 years ago.

This x 1000
Combined, they were
165/267 61.7% 2043 yard 20 TD 5 INT, 81 carries 248 yards 3 TD
I'd kill for that production in 2015

Yeah, pretty sure he was the #1 overall player taken in the NFL draft or something..

These are the dumbass opinions by southeast that have been proven wrong with FACTS
1. There was a substantial drop off in offense once JJ became the starter.
Wrong. Our offensive yards per play was the highest it ever was all season.
2. JJ padded his stats in November against weak competition.
Wromg. he had 52% of our entire offensive output against #3,Arky. He had 49% of our entire offensive output against #2 Bama
3.JJ wasn't a running threat.
Wrong.JJ is the single season and career qb rushing record holder.
4. Herb Tyler played behind god awful olines.
Wrong. Todd Mcclure,Alan Faneca, and BEN Bordelon were all sec at some point
5.Herb Tyler played on bad teams.
Wrong.Herb Tyler played on 2 back to back top 15 teams in 96&97 and played with some of the best tigers ever at their position(Faneca,Mcclure,Lafluer,Kennison,Faulk,McFarland,
6. JJ sucked
wrong. if JJ sucked then lsu's entire qb history has sucked because JJ is top 6 in every major passing statistic in lsu history while starting just over 2 years.
The responses in this post are not MY OPINIONS. They are facts in the form of stats.

It's needed to be said twice.

Now THATS what I am talking about.... Its a shame this thread turned into a pissing match.... This year could be special IF we get good QB play... JJ and LEE are NOT walking through that door............

Pretty sure he redshirted his freshman season and only played 3 years then went pro after his junior year

And they both had shitty careers.
What?
Lsu is a top 15 alltime program.
In what reality are these accomplishments at a top 15 alltime program shite?
5th in wins
5th in passing tds
6th in compl%
6th in completions
6th in passing yards
1st in career qb rushing
1st in single season qb rushing
You are a dumb arse if you think top 6 in every major passing statistic at a top 15 alltime program is a shitty career.

It is a shame... shite's gone on for like 8 pages and having to debate someone who doesn't understand basic concepts like run-pass ratio, gap assignment, and passing efficiency caused my to lose my cool and have to take a step back.
I'm wary about Harris. He's on the same level of talent as Perrilloux, Mettenberger, and Russell, but none of those three have been thrust into a starting role this early in their careers. I feel Jennings is the safe choice, but with his having missed time due to his suspension, I fear it will have stunted his development.
There's no reason to expect 2008, 2010, 2012, or 2014 level QB play from our returning QBs.

Yeah but you were also pretty sure Herb Tyler played behind a God awful line and that he played on bad team. AND you were pretty sure JJ had substantial amount of playing time in all 4 years he was at lsu.
And facts say HT played behind some of the best olinemen to ever wear purple and gold and played on 2 top 15 teams and JJ started just over 2 years worth of games. So your pretty sure usually means dead wrong.

JJ played defense now?

1. There was a substantial drop off in offense once JJ became the starter.
quote:He played the #90 overall defense, the #47 overall defense, Alabama, and Western Kentucky. That's weak competition
2. JJ padded his stats in November against weak competition.
quote:I said that his feet weren't good enough to effect the way that the defense played against him. He had 400 yards rushing in his best season. Nick Marshall had over 1000 last year and good rushing QB's typically hit 600-700-800 pretty easily.
3.JJ wasn't a running threat.
quote:Ok, again, we've been talking about QB's senior years. Smart people can usually keep up with that but considering that my dog probably has a higher IQ than you, I'll just remind you that I was referring to Herb Tyler's SENIOR YEAR when we went 4-7 and the line was below average as a unit
4. Herb Tyler played behind god awful olines.
quote:I was talking about 1998, where we went 4-7. That was a bad team.
5.Herb Tyler played on bad teams
quote:Our passing offense was ranked at the bottom of the SEC every year that JJ played. He sucked.
6. JJ sucked
quote:You're not smart enough to understand that you're posting your own interpretation of those "stats", and your interpretation is biased and wrong

Lol. He actually said an Oline of Ben Bordelon,McLaren and Faneca was God awful. He would rather be right than get it right. Yet he gets both wrong.

This isn't really saying much.. LSU has never been portrayed as QB U............ Go back and look at overall stats that compare LSU's passing games against some of the other QB U schools and you will see what I mean... Bert Jones was a great QB. But wasn't relied on to pass LSU to victory every game........
Posted on 7/12/15 at 3:24 pm to chilge1
Did JaMarcus Russell throw a pass when he was redshirted? No? I asked you to name players who got substantial playing time their freshman-senior years. Sorry that you're too stupid to understand a direct question
