Saddest part is half the people here like getting screwed on the schedule.

When you're the best team in the country, it doesn't matter who's on the schedule, they're all worse than you.

It is beyond belief that Alabama does not play Georgia, South Carolina, or Florida. It is like this every year, Alabama never plays anybody in a row that is any good. They will play Ten then play Ole Miss or some second rate SEC team. Can our AD please go to the SEC office and lobby for a schedule that is fair to all. What a joke this is, LSU plays in a row Fl,SC,AM and off week Al. What a rough schedule.

are you stupid? we NEED this type of schedule to build up our players skills. You want to be a one trick pony for Bama?

I agree with the original post that the system is unfair. I shouldn't be directed at alabama though.

The rotation is unbalanced due to Bama not wanting to give up the annual game with Tenn. The SEC offices this past year had 5( LSU, Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, Kentucky) schools in favor of rotating 2 cross divisional teams every two years on a staggered format with 8 conference games, 5 ( Miss State, Texas A&M, Missouri, Ole Miss, Vandy) schools wanting to go with 9 conference games 2 wanting a common opponent and 3 wanting 3 rotating cross divisional opponents every 2 years and 4 ( Alabama, Tenn., Auburn, Georgia) schools that wanted to play 8 conference games with 1 rotating cross divisional opponent and one cross divisional rival. The SEC decided to cave to the format that had the least support in the vein of keeping with tradition. The biggest stump thumper for the current format was Alabama so yes the outrage for this should be directed at Alabama as well as Tenn, Georgia and Auburn. Why are their traditions more important than the rest of the member institutions?

2008 and 2009 were the SEC championship game. That doesn't count.

Maybe because it's not that big of a deal.

I like playing Florida every year.

"outrage"?

It's really not all that outrageous.

I like playing Florida every year as well. I do however find merit to the complaint that some fans have with regards to the SEC offices and the appearance of favoritism.

I don't really put much stock in all that crap, one thing that does bother me sometimes though is that now every year we play almost the same teams, or some minor deviation. Back when we only played 5 or 6 SEC games in an 11 game season seemed to give a lot more variety to the season. One season stood out from others.

I find it odd that Saban believes playing 9-10 conference opponents/yr is better for the league than Bama admins, due primarily to the effects of rent-a-win teams on so many schedules hurting SOS and potentially costing a 1-loss SEC team a shot for the title. Putting the permanent out of division opponent schedule issue aside, who wouldn't want to see at least one more SEC opponent at home compared to Towson/FAU/WKU/NTSU/MTSU, etc? Many years the home schedule is meh. It is short sighted to not go to at least 9 SEC opponents/yr and if it leads to a revenue share/split on one of the games so be it.

Its a tradition. Traditions are what the SEC was built on. Auburn wont give up their game with UGA either. DWI.

I think we should have a 12 game schedule with nothing but SEC teams. If you are good enough to win them all or only drop 1 you'll be where you need to be at the end of the year.

Just beat everybody and let 'er rip!

It was awfully convenient in 2010 when 6 or 7 opponents got a bye week before the alabama game. Since the expansion to 12 teams alabama has faced more teams coming off a bye than anyone else in the conference by a wide margin

It's a self-important rivalry that no one else cares about. LSU's schedule shouldn't be impacted due to sacred devotion to his second rate rivalry.

I noted that. Playing night games is a tradition for LSU at home. Last year we got screwed on that tradition. I guess some traditions are held in higher regard. That is BS and you know it. If one tradition can get shoved aside then any other tradition can get shoved aside. Notre Dame cancelled their annual game with Mich. Texas will not play Texas A&M. These games were both Traditions. Going back to the early 90's Nebraska and Oklahoma decided that their annual game was not as important as the rest of the Big12.

I don't remember Lsu fans caring about a game with florida in 2010 or 2011. Funny how it's only an issue when florida is a threat.

Florida has played in more SEC Championship games than any other team in the conference. Yes they have had some down years but since 1992 they have never been a cupcake game on anyone's schedule. 2010 and 2011 were down years for Florida but tell me how 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002 have been for Tenn. I am not saying they are the bottom feeders of the SEC but this is not even a comparison.

I do like playing Florida each year though. I like the 9 game format that was proposed and if we get stuck with a cross division rival I would like it to continue to be Florida so at least I get to see a good game.

The scheduling setup has been an issue for years. Its not just that LSU plays Florida yearly. It's also that some LSU fans would like to see other teams now and then.

I think we all would. For the record georgia was supposed to be on our schedule this year but the expansion killed that game. It's going to be harder and harder unless the league moves to a 9 game schedule. I feel like this is more likely than seeing the permanent opponent done away with. Auburn/Georgia Alabama/UT are as traditional as it gets. This conference prides itself on that tradition.
