There is more to defending a perimeter player than simply contesting his shot. You play defense with your feet, not your hands. You beat him to the spot. You deny him the ball at the time he want to get it. If playing man you correctly and effectively switch on picks. You double the hot hand if necessary. If playing zone (which you shouldn't) you rotate quickly and flood the side of the floor the hot hand is on. Oh, and whatever you do, do it with effort and pride.
These are just a few, but I'm sure you knew all of this.

Those are some good points. Congratulations, now try to explain that to a 18-20 year old after they just had their opponent drain 7 straight 3s in 5 minutes. Wade is not the problem. It’s the fact no one wants to play defense anymore and the fact Bama was not just having a good night with a “hot hand” we needed to shut down...they literally just had a record performance.
No whether you think that was WW fault for not teaching fundamental defense (yes your points are good ones KC, I’ll give you that) or whether our players just got outplayed, that’s your opinion.
If we play that game 10 times, Bama doesn’t have that kind of shooting night again. That was unreal. Don’t care how good you are on defense, how well you close out or rotate over or close the gaps, force kick outs and “content” the perimeter shots...

I don't think you know what the word "Fact" means.
