With the current status of Porter leaving I was thinking, Is it better to have a great coach or a great recruiter. Not at head coach, but an assistant. The recruiter has tons of talent and doesnt have to be a great coach, right? Then great coach gets the most out of what hes got? This seems like an easy question regarding this season, but I think both sides could have a case. Whats your take?

Me to. Ya know there are tons who want nothin but 5 stars and think the rest is easy. However, I dont care how good of a coach you are, you cant win a title with the talent of ULM for example.

Why can't you have both a good recruiter and a good coach?

The coaching staff needs to be a mix of good recruiters and good coaches. Certain coaches will coach up the talent the other coaches bring in.

That's been LSU's problem, we haven't been coaching them up.

Not saying we cant, just asking which you prefer if we could only have one characteristic. More along the lines of assistants, not head coaches

I just hope our A.D. doesn't sit on his (their) hands after this mess-up this season? We will get left in our tracks worse than the erosion of our states coastline after hurricanes pass through.
Or like peeling an onion back, layer by layer!
