I won't criticize anyone for not being a true fan. That's not for me to debate. I'm keeping the faith as a student and as a friend of the players on the team.

Magic320,
Respect your positive message, but I completely disagree with your post. Les Miles is at best an average coach. We deserve much better. Coaches who make that kind of money are paid to be special. Look at his pressers, his play calling, his use of talent, and his game-time decisions. He's not special. IMO, Les is a poor reflection on our football program and our state.

About Les
He gets paid to do one thing and one thing only and that's coach.

Very naive. He gets paid that much to win, not just to coach.

That would make it an average job. If he is accurately interviewed, no one on this board should be able to do what he does. This explains the "lack of" 4mil a year jobs out there right now on monster.com. It is supposed to be filled by the few.

Maybe I just put to much stock in wanting a coach to succeed, and when they fall short I just don't see the whole picture. The naive boy inside of me just doesn't see it that way I suppose.

If "coaching" is all Miles was hired to do then I think we can find someone else to "coach" at a much better price point.

On the other hand, if Miles was hired to promote (and by example demonstrate...) excellence in LSU's football program, then you have entered the realm of a whole new discussion...

This is the biggest thing I don't get about the Miles apologists. He is being paid too much money for disappointing seasons. If the program is only going to have 8 or 9 wins, then we need to lower his salary by a couple million bucks a year.
