SFP, Saban Lover Supreme, criticizing someone for "low character"!
There ain't enough

I find it hilarious that some people will bash Miles for scenarios that havent (and likely will not) happen.

I have my issues with Miles coaching style but this thread blows. Don't see a point to it, or any validity.

so i ask this to les-tards: how could you defend miles' character if he de-rails this program and then expects to get an 8-figure check as an umbrella for doing this? where is his character if he does this?
We have had a problem with our offense, dating back to RP. This year the offense was terrible. Do you think he doesn't know that? His job is to fix it. Do you think he hasn't thought about it? Or, that he hasn't called other people (coaches) for advice? Let's assume he's ALMOST as smart as you, but has the benefit of experience and other expert advice. Let's see if he can fix it!!!!!
Look, I remember Gerry Dinardo and Lou Tepper. Don't you think Les Miles is aware of that too?!!
Look, we had Mike Archer, Curley Hallman, and Gerry Dinardo as the three coaches preceeding Saban. After Saban, we had two spectular seasons with Coach Miles, including a BCS trophy. Was that just luck?
Remember last year, when they had no choice but to throw Jarett Lee into the fire? I understand their protecting JJ.
And, yes, I know coaching cost us the Old Miss game. It's obvious, and he has acknowleged that. We won nine games this year, and it should have been ten. Two of those games were to the Nos 1 & 2 ranked teams. And, we played them pretty damn close. And, Penn State was very winable.
If we don't get the horrible penalty call at the end of the game, and kick the field goal, is Miles a "better" coach?

the employer who hired les is not here anymore
Well in that case the contract is null and void
Why else would this be mentioned.

I'm so tired of this crap. That crap doesn't matter. Our record is our record.
You sound like the people saying "Yeah we won the title in 2007, but Miles had two losses."
You people are just blind to what is really going on. I swear...
Let me change it up for you.
If a robber broke into your house and shot at you and missed...would you forgive the robber and instead focus on the result of you being alive?
I'm not directly comparing Miles to an attempted murderer, but that's how the Les-rons think. We aren't dead so let's be happy.
Face it..we are a rabbit's foot away from being a random football team. That is unacceptable with all this talent. Stop focusing on the record and step back and look at the journey. Instead of bulldozing our way to 9 wins by utilizing our resources, we have instead stumbled there half drunk and one legged.

What kind of retarded analogy is this? Of course you would be more thankful that you were alive than worried about the robber getting punishment.

I'm tired of hearing this shite. We are talented at the skill positions but we are severely lacking where it counts, on both lines. Hopefully, with all the freshman on the roster this year, we will actually have some quality depth the next few years.

I'm eager to see Downs and Nevis on the interior of that line. Should make for easy pickings for whoever is playing linebacker.

But would you forgive the robber or demand justice?

You're asking that C.Miles be held to a higher standard of character for not doing something that no coach in college football would even consider. C. Miles lost the O.Miss game thru poor coaching. Who lost the Iowa bowl game thru poor coaching? Who lost the Ark game in Little Rock thru poor coaching? Both games were lost when our DB's were beat on last second TD's. Saban's area of expertise. Remember Eli's win IN Tiger Stadium?

I dont know, did you have a Fletch like contract where you contracted the robber to shoot at you?
If so this analogy would be somewhat akin to what the thread is about.
If not, and it doesn't, it is just retarded.

there's a huge difference between 10 million dollars and character
i know a lot of straight men who would become faggots for a night for that kind of money

You demand justice for willful violation of the social norm. Until Miles intentionally throws games (willful violation) he is in need of neither forgiveness or justice.

but if he fails next year, and gets fired, he's owed a lot of money that he never earned
That's why he signed a contract, Slow. To ensure payment for a certain amount of money, no matter what.
Why would it be an indictment of Miles' character to ask that LSU hold up their end of the bargain that both parties agreed to?
What would be a more appropriate question is whether or not Miles would accept a reduced buyout if LSU does go, say, 6-6, and he gets fired.
Also, imagine if LSU goes 6-6 -- why wouldn't Miles believe that he could fix the problems and do better? If he thinks he is a good coach, why would he voluntarily quit (if not fired)? Would that be an admission to any other potential employer that he doesn't even feel like he is capable of producing a winning team? To me that would show something worse than character/lack thereof -- it would show a lack of self-confidence, something that any coach needs to have.

you're brain waves can't flow that slow. the man has a contract. to contemplate that if he is fired he should not require LSU to fulfill it if he is a man of character is ludicrous. i loved the company i worked for but when i retired i got every dime i had coming to me. it is not a character issue at all and insinuating it is is an attempt by you to set miles up for further trashing if he gets fired. your attitude trancends football and should be categorized as spite and vindictiveness.

Doesn't reflect on the current staff very well. This may be true, but who's fault is that?

Coaches don't think about shite like this. He does not expect his team to go 6-6 like the rantards for starters.
Who is saying he is a better coach than Saban?
SFP, I want to make sure I understand this. You want the head coach at LSU to be thinking about what he is going to do about his buyout that you think may happen? You really think a head coach is thinking about that while he is in charge of the program?
wow
