I believe the game plan was to pressure the QB, not go for the sack. They knew going in how many times this guy would throw the ball and yet what did he get for all his yards... a mark in the loss column. We didn't give him an opportunity to scramble and pick up yards whether he is known for running or not. Dan Marino all those passing yards and no superbowl ring........

we started at midfield and they started inside their own 10.

Thanks, Mr. Wing. Austin's 38-yard run and 72-yars pass and run have to be the biggest yardage plays against us this season. Hope we don't see any repeats against SEC teams. Give credit where it's due though: Austin (11 catches/187 yds.) and Bailey (8 catches/115 yds.) are fricking great receivers. Would love to have either in purple and gold.

I'm not concerned in the least. It was actually part of the game plan. Force them to throw (a lot) and make mistakes. It worked perfectly IMO.

And I've been giving credit in other posts - they had a good game plan and took what we gave them.

WVU, especially their offense, was actually in a groove and had all of the momentum until the Claiborne return. I said, less than 20 seconds prior to the return, "We just don't have the deep return threat like we did last year with Peterson."

Well....we were due.

Regarding all those passing yds
one thing was, as lots have noted, we stayed back and forced them to drive instead of chancing giving up the big play. We were leading pretty safely at the time, and it was making the clock run

another point is, WVU is a proud school Not saying they are top 5 or anything, but they are a good team with some tradition, playing at home on the national stage. You have to think at some point they were just gonna do anything they could to keep some pride. Coach maybe accepted they would lose and give up 40+ points by halftime, but wasn't gonna lose 40-7.
