The real problem here is 4 turnovers. That's why the score was so close despite us outplaying Ole Miss. If we don't turn the ball over, with our defense, I like our chances against Bama even with 8-16.

The best offense execution we have seen this year has been led by Brandon Harris (New Mexico State and Miss State). Even the announcers on TV noted that the Tiger offense was "different" with him at the helm.

it was a "check with me" offense against a scrub team and a team that had gone into a "protect" defense. Les doesn't want to run a "check with me" long term...thankfully.

true, and I'm one of the handful on here who advocated for starting Jennings and bringing in Harris on series 3 or 4.

Huh?

He was 50% v. Ole Miss, 8-16

He was 50% v. Kentucky, 7-14

He was 47% v. Florida, 10-21

He was 50% v. Auburn, 5-10

He was 40% v. New Mexico State.

Jennings is nothing if not consistent. The best you can say is that he had 2 picks v. New Mexico State and then threw no picks until Ole Miss, where he threw 2 more picks (and could have lost us the game if the Ole Miss OLB could catch a pass thrown right at his head by Jennings in the fourth quarter).

I did as we and still wouldn't mind seeing him get a series or two a game, ala Mickey Guidry.

I agree with getting Harris reps. Which is why I would have liked to see him get more than two series in a 41-3 shellacking. Failing to play Harris in the secondf part of the third, with the game in hand at 34-3 is something in which I profoundly disagree with Les, and can't help but consider that if Jennings were not so bad would have been handled differently.

The only thing I can think of is that Les is trying to boost AJ's confidence. I don't think Miles want's another QB controversy this year.

What do you think happens, Roger, if we lose to Bama? [For the record, I don't want to think about it, but I agree with others that it's the only scenario in which Harris gets to play football this season]

At 7-3, the championship goals are done. Do we start the QB competition in the final games v. Arkansas and A&M. Or does Les continue to play AJ and thus give him a thumb on the scale for 2015?

I think if LSU loses to Bama, Miles sticks with AJ no matter how he plays in that game. I do think if AJ plays badly vs Alabama and the first half of the Arkansas game, we may see Harris.

I am sorry...I must have missed your link to "what absolutely WILL cut it against Bama". Can you re-post it?

Our championship goals are done now, you worry about developing the QB for next year during the spring when you have next year's squad in their respective spots. For the rest of this year you focus on winning games, getting to the best possible bowl and giving your seniors the best send-off/prep for the draft possible.

Yes..this. And anyone who doesn't believe this is a fool. Who thinks Les Miles is going to stand in front of his team with 2 games left and say "well fella's we are giving up on this season. We are throwing in the towel and just getting ready for next year. Sorry Seniors...sucks for y'all!"

I don't think it would hurt to get Harris some SEC time if LSU gets a good lead on Arkansas or A&M. It certainly can't hurt his development.

When will you people understand that there is more to the QB position in this offense than stat line?

And everyone seems to forget that if not for a fumble at the 1 yard line and a shanked short field goal, we have 20 points the other night instead of 10.

The coaches like what Jennings brings. Harris will get his shot in the spring and next fall. Enjoy the current ride.

Love all the optimism coming from people cause it's always great when we beat up on little brother. But if you sit here and tell me that we'll beat Bama going 8-16 with two picks you're sorely b mistaken.

The win gave our players much needed confidence boost and if you don't think so you would sadly be mistaken. We carry that confidence until game time we are going to be hard to beat at DV at night

8/16 for 142

7/14 for 120

10/21 for 110

I think if Bama has the same coverage to the outside, he might just be able to recognize it next game. But apart from the two picks, he could perform similarly and there's no reason we couldn't win.

You are grasping at straws if your point is that, because he got more yards per completion, that is improvement, even though he has the worst (and over the last four games, consistently bad) completion percentage of an LSU QB since...

Have you ever heard of YAC? We got some of that v. Ole Miss

I think that if our defense plays like they did against ole miss and we actually hang on to some of those interceptions if they come our way, while running the ball very tough it will be a very close game that is decided in the 4th quarter. Their defense isn't quite as good as Bama D's of the past. In fact I think ole miss has the better defense of the two. What worries me the most is amari coopers big play ability and their screen game with Henry and yeldon
