If Miles is given the axe (which i think is doubtful) and i have my choice of replacements then id go Gary Patterson out of TCU. His defenses are always top notch and he could bring that intensity this team has been lacking as of late
Also wouldnt mind a Butch Davis if he wants a change of scenery. With all that he's done w/ UNC plus give him a huge budget, top notch facilities, and our recruiting ties and he could take us places

No chance in hell. None. Only a losing season would even promt the axe to be taken off the shelf as a threat.

quote:Our talent is pretty even with Bama and Florida. If we lose to Bama and Florida again this year AND lose to UNC and a bowl opponent, I don't think it will be a ripple on the water. In addition, if we lose to Bama and Florida again this year AND lose to UNC and Arky but win our bowl, I don't think it will be a ripple on the water.
We've lost to Florida, Alabama and Ole Miss for two years running. If we don't win against at least two of those teams AND there are four losses, I think the ball gets rolling for a replacement. Consistently losing to top opponents seems a pretty good indicator to me that your coach is getting out coached given the talent level of our team.

Only if LSU is 4-4 in SEC play for the regular season. If one of the 4 losses comes OOC or from a post-season game, then Miles will keep his job.

4 losses and ill help him pack. and dont give me any shite about tough schedule, young/developing quarterback. the play clock will also remain displayed in minutes and seconds. so miles has another year under his belt to adust to the non-big 12 metric play clock.the s.e.c. will also keep the 3 timeouts per half rule, as well as stopping the clock after any change of possession.what if florida lost 4? they have a tough schedule and young qb. im sick of mediocrity and excuses. get it done, les!

Another useless, meaningless, Miles thread with the same answer.....NO!!!!

I understand the sentiment, but it's just really difficult to fire a coach who just went 5-3 in the SEC. Even unforgiving Gator fans waited until the Zooker went 4-4 in 2004 before giving him the boot.
Now some may point to Ray Perkins leaving Bama after a 4-2 SEC record in '86, or Bill Curry leaving after a 6-1 SEC record and conference title in '89, but neither one was technically fired, and Bama in the 1980s was really a whole other universe.

IMO yes. Will it have alot to do with how we lose? I'm actually rooting for him FWIW, but alas if he loses four I think the machine will be started.
I honestly don't know how you get through the day. Does someone remind you to breathe?
4 losses doesn't even get him a whiff of being fired.

LSU has had a winning SEC record in 10 of the last 11 seasons (tied for best in the conference). It's not acceptable to be at .500 in conference play. It wouldn't be for UF or Bama, and it shouldn't be for us either.

4 loss season = the axe??
Alleva is light in the testicle department. He comes from a school immersed in Basketball and Lacrosse. Football is a second language to him.

That would mean his 6 season record would be 60-19(76%} with 6 bowls, 2 west titles, SEC title, 5 ranked teams out of 6, and a NC in 07.
This is just me wondering, but how many coaches in our 100+ years of football have ever equaled the above?
Last 2 years vs. AL, FL, AR and MS = 1-7. The graveyard is full of people who couldn't be replaced.

did zook ever have a better record than 8-5 at UF?

No, but he was 16-8 in SEC games.
Going 1-5 against the Canes and Noles, and losing Outback Bowls against Michigan & Iowa, is what sealed his doom.

no. no ax for 4 L's.
Presently the spread in Vegas is LSU losing 5 games.
They are dogs to FLORIDA, Bama, North Carolina, Arkansas and Auburn. Florida and Bama are big spreads. Ark is 6 pts.
Also, persons in full possession of their faculties will observe that the schedule is ranked 10th most difficult in the USA.
Aside from that, there are a few very good teams on the
schedule: BAMA #1, Florida #5, Ark #14, in preseason polls. Since LSU is #22 in these polls and NC is #15, LSU is a dog to 4 higher rated teams, and to one on the road, Auburn.
If LSU goes 10-2, it will be a very good coaching job by the whole staff.
11-1 or 12-0 and it will be a great coaching job by the whole staff.

If they are Ole Miss, brain-dead type losses, then the axe should be sharpened!

How many NC coaches resting in your graveyard who were put there 3 years after winning said NC while they continued to win 9 games a season, go to major bowls, and have a top 20 ranked team?
Like it or not, like Miles or not, but when he won that NC in 07 he separated himself from bout 99% of his peers and in doing so he made it virtually impossible to release him before the end of his contract unless he pulls a Tiger Woods or something. imo

if we go 6-6, he is gone
i think we go 8-3, inspite of the staff

Wow, you really are something aren't you. One sec title in 6 years is impressive? Being ranked 5 times out of 6 times is impressive? What separates mediocre and success with you positards. I bet you thought 2008 was a success.
