please explain the difference between a team ranked 150 vs 250
Well, there are 100 teams better than the team ranked 250 compared to the team ranked 150. It's really just basic math.

Georgetown 21-9 and 8-9 vs RPI top 100
LSU 22-9 and 12-4 vs RPI top 100.

hate being butthurt about it but the top 25 is all the media focuses on. Espn highlights are for top 25 teams only.
Well look above.....All of Georgetown's losses are to Top 100 teams. LSU has lost 4 vs TOp 100 teams, and lost 5 to the shittiest teams in the world...hate to sound like a broken record.....but losses to AU, A&M, and TN at HOME are what has kept this team out of the Top 25.

I hate ranking a team based on games they didn't win, but Georgetown doesn't have a loss to a single team outside the RPI Top 50. Meanwhile, LSU has 7 losses outside the Top 50 and 4 outside the Top 100.
Georgetown best win? Villanova (6 RPI)
LSU best win? @ Arkansas (22 RPI)
Georgetown worst loss? Xavier (40 RPI)
LSU worst loss? Missouri (218 RPI)
It really isn't a contest to be quite frank.

Our ability to beat 99% of the teams out there is what makes this team tournament worthy.
While our ability to lose to 99% of the teams out there makes this team unrankable.
We are about where we should be, a foot in the tournament because of our ability to be great at times. Making this team a high seed in the tournament doesn't make much sense with the terrible losses.

Welcome to being in the big east during football season.

LSU should be compared to NC State, not Georgetown. Like LSU, when NCSU puts it all together, they have the talent to beat anyone in the country (witness wins against Duke, UNC and Louisville). However, just as often, they will lay an egg against some of the worst teams in the conference (Clemson, Boston College, Wake Forest). Like LSU, NCSU is unranked, but headed to the tournament. Both teams are very talented, but extremely unpredictable.

Dale made 5 runs in 28 years coaching. Roughly one every 5 years. Today's head coaches would be fired well before that.
When would you have fired him?
He made it to a Sweet 16, Elite 8, and Final Four in 3 straight years from 79-81. That gives you some freedom to have a few off years. We followed it with 2 NIT seasons, which still wouldn't have put him on the hot seat IMO after that 3 year stretch.
Then from 84-87 we rebounded. NCAA 1st round (improvement), NCAA 1st round (SEC Champs), Final Four, Elite 8.
That buys a coach a lot of time, especially when he went made the tourney for the next 6 years after that and won a conference title in 1990.
So in the 15 year stretch from 79-93:
15 straight post season appearences
13 NCAA Tourney Appearences (10 straight)
2 Final Fours
2 Elite 8's
Sweet 16
4 SEC Championships, 5 2nd place finishes
He had 4 seasons of shite after that before he left. Not sure when you could have been justified in firing him
