I know this is fairly meaningless, but I ran some numbers to put in perspective what we have and will accomplish this year.

I took the opponents ranking (average of end of season AP and Coaches Polls) of great teams since 2000, inversed them (relative to 1-25) and added them up.

For example, Auburn 2010 gets awarded 23 points for beating No. 3 Oregon, and 18 points for No. 8 LSU, etc.

Here are all teams (2000-2010) with more than 50 points:

1 OU 2000 89
2 Auburn 2010 88.5
3 LSU 2007 75.5
4 LSU 2003 74.5
5 Alabama 2009 72
6 Auburn 2004 69.5
7 OSU 2002 67.5
8 OSU 2009 61.5
9 OU 2002 61.5
10 Florida 2006 61
11 Miami 2001 60.5
12 OU 2008 59.5
13 Florida 2008 59.5
14 OU 2007 59
15 Miami 2000 57
16 Texas 2005 56.5
17 Texas 2008 54.5
18 USC 2004 51
19 LSU 2005 50.5

Our 2011 Tigers would get a score of 93 with the following conservative estimate:

No. 3 Alabama (x2)
No. 6 Arkansas
No. 10 Oregon
No. 15 UGA

WVU and Auburn are omitted.

We're really good.

You should email this to a buncha people at ESPN. Maybe it will catch on. Cowherd and SVP for sure.

Seriously. An email like this might catch their attention and start them talking about it. Snowball.

Thanks. I might just do that. I'm afraid it's a little to abstract but I'll try anyway. I mean it's not genius or anything--it's simple addition, but it requires some explaining of the point system. Yes after the season I'll revisit.

Needs to be talked about during the layoff between our SEC title and national title

I think the 1.000 BCS rating supports your conclusion.

Nice math - you should go back a couple of years to include entire BCS era.

Nice to see that 2005 LSU team show up on your rankings....They had the best NCAA roster I have ever seen. (excluding this season of course) PURE FILTH!
