youre right there was a pretty good pour during warm ups. it didnt even last THAT long though. that field was just in a bad way in general. like i said, champs sports bowl a few nights before had pretty much the same problems, and it didnt even rain. haha.

I went to this game. Worst field conditions I have ever seen. Actually seeing some of the highlights on TV, the field looked better. It looked worse if you were actually there. Even the coaches feet were sinking into the grass. It was really pathetic. Even if it was just raining and the fields were decent. LSU would have won by 10-14 at least. The field and the rain took away LSU's speed. Now they finally put turf in after what happened.

No torrential downpour? My dad and I sat in what was pretty much a fricking hurricane for what seemed like 30 minutes before kickoff. The single worst field conditions I have ever seen a football game of any level contested on.
Bash all you want about how we played bad and both teams had to play on it, that field took away our biggest advantage in speed. Trindon almost broke about half a dozen long runs and kept slipping on the field. We obliterate Penn State on even a decent field

Dude, this was a travesty, I mean just lucky no injuries (that I can recall) playing on that slop; I don't want to relive that debacle, we were nuetralized by it and I don't care what PSU fans think!

I was there and it MONSOONED for about 30 - 45 minutes, about an hour or so before kickoff. We sat in the car waiting for it to slack up. The driveways immediately around the stadium had about 6" of water on them. It continued to rain, but not nearly as hard, through most of the first half.
The paint in the Penn St endzone was almost obliterated by the teams coming out of the tunnels before the game started. Between Q1 and Q2 (or maybe at the end of the first half... we were drinking!) I counted 78 people on the field stomping divots. Grounds crew, sideline staff, cops - everybody! Some of them were using 5 gallon buckets to push the turf down.
The icing on the cake was when the Capital One Bowl people tried to keep the kids doing the halftime show from dancing because they didn't want the field damaged! Their choreographer waved them onto the field anyway and let them do their thing!

I'd rather jack off with a cheese grater than watch that game.

I remember at halftime, they tried to pound down the field with giant buckets. And it worked fantastically. :sarcasm:
