Keys Open Doors brought him up in a post back in June!

His name is Spencer Ware. He's highly rated on both services, but his 40 isn't that fast. However, he might have run at a combine with a slow track

I added my two cents too!

Looks like Jordan Allen dropped out of the top 100.

It's not like the recruiting sites were the only ones that missed on Revis, he only had a handful of BCS offers (Pitt, Penn State, Kansas, West Virginia), and a few others from Duquesne and Western Kentucky (got the list from the Rivals profile).

Sometimes, that diamond in the rough slips under most people's radars.

Exactly and it happens at every level.

There's a shite ton of NFL stars right now that were 3rd round and later picks. Who dropped the balls on those guys? The best evaluators at the highest level of football.

It happens.

winning games, winning championships, and preparing guys for the next level FAR, FAR, FAR exceeds, in terms of importance, recruiting rankings to potential recruits...

look, people have to have jobs... at Rivals or Scout, their job is to watch guys and rate them... i get it...

what i don't get is when the common fan 'wants' a guy when he's a 5 star recruit, but let that same guy fall to a 3 star, and no one, i mean NO ONE, will banging the drum to still recruit him!! is that right? what makes him, in the mind of the fan, no longer a good player? because someone else said so?!?

do you see my point? i'd rather have a class of 3 and 2 stars with some upside that fit what we are trying to accomplish and run TO A "T", rather than a bunch of 4 and the occasional 5 star recruits that aren't a good fit.... some would rather STILL get the higher rated guys, just because it looks good and/or impressive...

I can't believe they will continue to have Jarrick Williams ahead of Eric Reid.Reid has been better all year.Bama bias at it's best.Don't like to use that because I think it's a copout but I can't see any other reason for Williams being ahead of Reid.

you can't possibly do this without good recruiting.

recruiting rankings to potential recruits...

If you look at the last few national champions on the field, it's not a coincidence that they rank extremely high in recruiting.

I find it pretty funny that LSU fans are still complaining about Rivals having a Bama bias when it comes to recruits. People say there guys are over rated just to make the classes seem much better. I say you should look at what they've done on the field.

They just won the national championship and are probably going to be heavy favors to repeat next year. I guess rivals wasn't too far off on that. I'd also like to point out that Robby Green was a big contributor for them and was a player who many LSU fans, myself included, said Bama could have because he wasn't LSU material.

My point is that these rankings are based on talent level and what these kids did in high school. With anything you really can't rank a player on work ethic, etc. So what it boils down to is coaching. Saban has turned lesser players into more and Miles' players have either stayed the same or got worse.

For a player to live up to their star rating it takes coaching. Star rankings are for the most part based on potential at the next level.

dunno.... boise st. has won a bunch of games with a bunch of 3 and 2's... cincinnati and TCU too... recent history of these teams, even without top 20 recruiting classes, looks very good...

i know, i know... they don't play in the SEC...

notice i am not saying we shouldn't get good recruits!! that's the corner you're trying to paint me into, and that's not correct... let me clarify...

my complaint is with those fans who want a guy not because the guy would be a great fit and player for us, but because he'd help our rivals rankings because he's a 4 or 5 star recruit... that's ridiculous...there are some great 3 star recruits out there that guys here should be more excited about the possibility of getting rather than hoping and praying for some 4 or 5 star guy that MIGHT not amount to anything...

and as far as telling me to "get over it", last time i checked, i COULD have and voice my opinion AND that it is as valid as yours or anyone else's here... don't like it, don't read it, don't respond.... don't know who you think you are, but you ain't...

i get your point. perhaps if you spent more time on the recruiting board you'd realize that most of the posters aren't like that at all. but instead you'd rather make a sweeping brash judgment about star discussions on the day one of the biggest recruiting powers releases their final batch of rankings. in fact, stars are rarely even discussed on this board.

2 things:
1) If you don't want to see people talk about star rankings by your own logic quit reading it and get the frick over it.
2)

i believe that in this back and forth b/w you and i, i have AT LEAST maintained respect for you and haven't cussed at you....

i FULLY expect the same gratitude....

and i call bullshite on the "most posters don't care about star ratings" statement... if you look at most of the post here, one of the first things that comes out about the player is how many stars he currently has... for example, John Doe, 5 star from Texas, or whatever...

my entire point, try to grasp this, is that the player should not be relegated to his star ratings only! i have yet to see a rating for the amount "heart" a player has... is that not a characteristic of a great player? i'm just saying that there is much, much more to it than labeling some guy because of someone's opinion...
