Who impressed you from that 2010 class this year?

As compared to what LSU fielded?

I guess LSU's classes were overrated as well, when they finished #7 in 2006 and #4 in 2007, only to finish 8-5 and 9-4 in the two following seasons.

u just listed guys that were key contributors to a nat'l championship, further diminishing your point that the recruiting rankings were unwarranted. And those guys were already starters, I was talking about guys that had to step up this year..fluker, lester, kirkpatrick, etc

Having the 07 SECCG MVP and national gatorade high school player of the year, kicked off the team with no other QBs ready to play behind him had nothing to do with LSUs record.

If 5* Tyler Love and BJ Scott would have played like 5 stars maybe yall could have won a couple more games this year, hell you may have been able to beat big Les.

you are also making our point for us. your down years don't necessarily mean your recruiting class rankings were overrated.

oooooh, sick burn. You got us, Tyler Love and BJ Scott being busts means our recruiting class rankings were completely unwarranted. Every highly-ranked recruit in LSU's classes have gone on to become NFL draft picks.

Is this what the decent posters on this board refer to when they talk about the great migration that happens at the end of football season and right before signing day?

Sometimes yea, sometimes no. LSUs reason for a down year is simple. Our #1 guy got booted and we had nothing behind him. It wasnt because we had overrated classes.
Whats the reason for your 9-3 season? It cant be talent, can it? Not according to Rivals. Your talent is better than everyones in the nation. What big time guys got booted and left a whole on your team? It can't be the coaching staffs fault, can it? Not Sabans, hes one of the best coaches in CFB. Maybe the talent is a lil overrated.

Have those guys ever even played in a game? Im not sure I can name one 5* guy at LSU that never saw the field simply because they were not talented enough. We've had guys underachive sure, but I dont think Ive ever heard those guys names called during a bama game, though I dont watch alot of your games, admittingly.

Definitely not talent, it was inexperience and a pretty rough schedule. To get that point across was the only reason I jumped in this thread, honestly. I also didn't feel the season (as a whole) was a letdown. I felt we should've beaten LSU and Auburn, but I won't ever complain about 9-3 and a dominating bowl performance in Orlando.

BJ Scott has actually switched positions twice, but still played alot on special teams and during mopup duty, but yeah he definitely didn't live up to his hype. Tyler Love has been hurt since the first day he stepped on campus, so I try not to get too down on him. But, yes, I don't think he's ever stepped on the field.

I really have no clue who the decent posters are, and which ones come over from the rant

to be honest i dont even know why im in this argument. i honestly think there's no difference between number 1 and number 5. its fun to follow this stuff but these ranking dont mean much. we all have great 3 stars (we have kelvin, you have dareus) and 5 star busts (we have davenport, you have half your roster).

and, in rivals defense, was it kareem jackson who jumped from a 2 to a 4 after signing with bama at that last minute? he turned out to be pretty good.

I usually hang around the RB more than the rant, but I like to ruffle bama, AU, and ole miss fans feathers.

I was hoping he would leave. We have other needs that are more pressing with some good talent still available.

I guess we could say the same thing about losing 9 starters on defense.

And FWIW, Love and Scott are not the first five stars to not live up to the hype.

In Love's defense, he's never had a chance to compete with injuries and the inability to keep the weight on that is needed to play LT. A recruiting ranking is a projection for any player. There's no way to project injury or weight gain.

B.J. Scott should have never started out on offense. He's also had a hard time picking up the defense. He wouldn't be the first DB to have that trouble in any complex defense. Regardless, he has contributed more than Love. He actually has a career statistic, getting an INT against Tennessee.

Wow look who is #1 on Rivals
Rivals was started by Alabama alum. Im friends with a guy who owns one of the team rival sites. He said Alabama Rivals site brings in 1,000,000 a month profit. When a kid signs or is offered by Alabama they will get bumped up. It's all about the revenue.

Guess that is why they had Auburn ahead of Bama last year. That dog wont hunt, nor will the major upgrading of LSU commits.
