not for WM

This is an old arguement with the same result. If you think that WM is recruiting, ask the LHSAA to investigate.

Sounds like a built in excuse for me. I like where your head's at right now. I hope you are a starter for STM. If your teammates share your mindset, WM will win this one without much of a fight.

As far as transfers go, WM calls for an investigation on every kid that transfers in and plays sports. One year 252 kids transferred into WM and 3 played sports. If a kid transfers for athletic purposes the LHSAA sends them packing. There were several that were ruled ineligible for WM and weren't even allowed to play their senior seasons once they transferred back to their original schools. Funny how this shite is brought up about WM, but you're cool with Barbe getting the top DB in the state.

Yeah, you right, our team's mindset is on WM's recruiting

No one talks about that stuff at school or even practice because it's UNDERSTOOD. This is a message board. And, I hope you think WM will win this one with out a fight, that's halarious.

the most blatant recruiting was bradie james from wossman to WM

besides the ensminger, jr. thing. it's ok though. it must be an LSU Quarterback thing. mike hillman pulled the same move with his son. you know the whole seperation of family so that the son can go to a different high school.

I love the whole "you can get any kid you want" routine ignorant public school fans run out.

first of all you don't "get" anyone at your school, slave days are over in America. A kid and his parents can freely CHOOSE to attend your school.

Second the old "athletic scholarships" line is hilarious. STM tuition is approx $5500/yr with fees. The need based program is administered by the Church Parishes and the School Chancellor, and he is a priest. If you know anything about the Catholic Church, then you know nothing gets in between a priest and the money. So giving a kid a "scholarship" over someone else is need based only. Coaches don't make that decision, and coaches are not involved in the process. Those grants aren't free either, you have to work to keep your grant

WM fans confuse Evangel and the rest of the private schools in the state. Evangel is a totally different situation from a catholic school. Evangel is owned by a wealthy church and run by the football coach, of course you had cheating going on. A catholic school is run by the Priests and owned by the member parishes, priests don't typically tend to allow cheating to win ballgames.

Anyway, I know some former WM players from my days at LSU and you WM fans need to be careful throwing bricks at other schools. There is plenty of dirty laundry through the years at WM too, but I bet you guys know all about that

I look forward to a good game friday, but I have my concerns about the STM offense scoring points. The STM defense will do their job as long as the STM offense doesnt make them stay on the field too long with penalties and turnovers

if you want to listen to the game, listen to us on 106.3FM or on the web at www.1063themonkey.com

Wasn't comparing him to Bradie James. I was comparing him to Steve Ensminger because it was the same situation.

janzen didnt have his parents legally "separate" so he could play at Barbe

but ensminger's parents filed separation papers and then reconciled in Auburn as soon as their son graduated from WM. Imagine that

Honestly, I think it's really quite simple. I think it came down to Saban to be honest with you. DJ has ALWAYS lived in West Monroe!!!!!!!! His parents sent him to private school in Monroe. I think his dad being a pastor had a lot to do with that decision. What I was told is DJ went to Bama camp before his junior year. Very shortly after that he was at WM. I think he was told by Bama's staff that if he wanted to get better and have a shot at playing at an SEC school he needed to face better competition as well as receive better coaching. Since he lived in West Monroe his entire life, he could go there without having to move. If he developed like most thought he would, Bama would have an inside path to taking another player from WM too. He hasn't come out as well as most thought when he was a soph. Maybe he would've been better suited at St. Fred. Maybe he just looked better against weaker competition.

As far as Bradie James, the story I got was WM played Wossman in the spring game and James was a manchild. How he got to WM is beyond me. Maybe he saw the facilities and a team that had won back to back titles that was returning 17 starters and wanted to be a part of that on his own. I seriously doubt that he just came without ANYONE talking to him though. I know a lot of people didn't like that he came. The 98 team is considered by most to be one of the top 3-4 teams to ever play in Louisiana. Like I said, they returned 17 starters from a team that went undefeated the year before. Something like 16 D1 signees was on that team, yet people think they won state because Bradie came over.

The closest thing I saw to "recruiting" when I was at WM was a coach talking to Willis Britton. Willis came from OCS before 97. I was told by Willis himself it was because his younger brother wanted to go to school with more black people. Whether that's the truth but that's straight from his mouth. Anyway, the coach told Willis he needed to talk to his boy and get him to come on over, that we could really use him. That boy was Eric Edwards, TE that went on to LSU and Arizona Cardinals. The coach said it laughing and like he was playing around, but that's the only thing I ever saw. I'm sure a lot of things have happened at WM that most don't know about. The level of recruiting that people down south believes happens at WM is not even close. You're talking about a handfull of kids that transferred over 20 years Shows has been here and think that WM "gets every player they want" which is ludicrous.

Janzen didn't have to because he came his senior year. Ensminger came his freshman year to WM. If he was a senior when his dad came to WM, none of that would've been neccessary. The funny thing about Ensminger is he really didn't fit into WM's offense and kind of hindered WM. He actually made a horrible read on that 2 point conversion that cost WM the title against ECA in 04. If he pulls and pitches Goodin walks in and WM wins the title. Don't get me wrong, he was a good kid and good player, but he really didn't fit into WM's offense. Especially not enough to go out and recruit him.

the story goes Bradie got threatened in the parking lot at Wossman, told his mom about it, she went to the school board and asked for a transfer to WM. They approved the transfer, Bradie went to WM played his senior year. Once football was over he finished the semester at WM, transferred back to wossman, ran track at wossman and graduated from there. Not sure about the last part, but that is he story that I was always told. fwiw

there is shady shite at every school, public and private

Just talked to my best friend who threw javelin for WM and graduated in 99. He said Bradie graduated from WM and was on the track team too.

I believe you. It's just a laughable story though because WM-Wossman are all of 5 miles apart. If someone had a beef, it wouldn't be hard to find Bradie. I know that's the story that was told, just really weak story imo. Just one more night of working and we'll be heading out around noon. Can't wait...I love south LA.
