I honestly don't think they would have done that if they didn't feel very good about getting him. I'm also fairly certain they will sign more than 1 RB in this class.

Agree with this 100%. Honestly i think LF has been a silent commit for a while.

What if they never develop or get better?

that's been the case of the last 6 years and we did pretty good so i'm hoping out of 3 qb's that 1 end up being pretty decent.

We will have 2 freshman qb's and rivers next year so why do we have to take one this year? trust me it's not a necessity

Trust me you are being exteremely short sighted and would probably be one of the first to complain come 2015/16 if the QB situation is bad.

If had a good QB we would probably have at least 1 if not 2 more National Titles. You seem to be only looking at 2014, recruiting is looking 2-3 years down the road. You are just assuming all 3 will stay their entire eligibilty when it is far more likely that they do not. By 2015 it is way more likely at least 1 is gone and by 2016 at least 2 of those 3 will probably be gone. Then what? You need a QB in 2014, another in 2015 and another in 2016 etc. It will shake itself out.

I think people have forgotten our QB depth chart in 2010 looked like this

Jordan Jefferson - jr
Jarrett Lee - jr
Barrett Bailey - walk on

In 2006 it was
Russell Jr
Flynn Jr
Perilloux Fr

Looks pretty good.

By 2008 it was
Hatch
Lee
Jefferson

No so good. Might have been a different story if you signed a QB in 2004 or at the very least 2006.

J.Lee did pretty damn good in his senior year. Only one year with Krags. He also seemed much better in 2010 against Florida and Tennessee.

Jefferson went from being a solid QB with big potential to regressing each year and getting much worse.

This isn't a JJ vs Lee debate. Just an observation about Lee in his junior and senior years compared to him as a freshman. He led the SEC in passing efficiency. Obviously improved.

Jennings, Rettig, and also Rivers will benefit greatly from Cam Cameron. We don't need #1 overall pick. I would be super happy with a consistent top 5 SEC quarterback, which I think is very attainable with Cameron.

One of the problems is that QB recruits are notorious depth chart watchers. When we signed Perriloux in 2005 and JR and MF were only sophs...no QB recruit in the country was going to sign with us in 2006. They are all looking for instant playing time and few top shelf guys are willing to come in and wait 3 years for their turn.

Now if you want to just sign a "guy" just to say you signed a qb for that year, I guess you could do that, but I don't really think it helps you in the long run.

More QB's means you have options, you have healthy competition, and your able to go with the guy that gives you the best chance to win. When you start limiting the number, all those things go out the window and we all know 2nd and 3rd string QB's are only 2 to 3 plays away from being starters.

mmhmmm, i mean just look at 2011...

This is the disconnect right here. JR and MF were soph when Perrilloux signed, but NSD 2006, they were Jr's and it was, or at least should have been obvious, to everyone that at least one of them was gone after the 2006 season. So while in Sept 2005 it looks like you have 3 QB's, you really only have 2 (at best) that will still be there in 2007. And While RP was a highly ranked stud, there is no guarantee he will pan out, even if he stayed squeaky clean. As it turns out, your 2006 signee would have been the starter in 2008

As just one other anecdotal example Texas signed 5* Garrett Gilbert, then highly ranked 4* Connor Wood the following year. Both busted out. Look how it's affected them since McCoy left. I really don't get the reluctance to sign 1 QB and say 5 WR instead of 6 WR.
