This is a stretch for the recruiting board.....

Depth chart discussions go on the rant.

I know...... You mentioned a recruit in your post...... Whatever......

Sorry guys. I still haven't gone to bed. My CFA exam is coming up in two weeks and I've been cramming hard. On top of that, my girlfriend has been on a cruise for a week now and not getting laid is not making me any nicer.

P.S. I bought a french press last night. It has officially changed my life. I have began sweating out whole coffee beans.

1, unfortunately.

I'm pretty sure if I didn't study another lick, I would be fine, but I can't stand the idea of failing it and I'm not anywhere near having all of it down packed.

Any tips?

I never took the test myself. One of my friends took it the first time and failed, then passed the second time. I know a guy who is managing $500 million right now and he failed the first time as well. Both of those guys were very smart, but they didn't start studying until the middle of May.

It seems like you started much earlier, which sounds good for your chances at passing. About 40% pass the first level, right?

Yeah, I took a prep course through LSU as one of my finance electives. I've been studying about 20 hours a week since late January. These books are like the bible though. Once I get all the way though, I have forgotten what the first one was all about.

I think 40% is the maximum amount that they like to pass. The number that I hear more often is 1/3. They go back and review the "marginal" grades though.

If I remember correctly, the CFA study materials are the equivalent (just in terms of page length) of 15 NASD Sereis 7 prep books, so it's something like 5,000 pages of material for a detailed test

It does seem like the quickest way to become a research analyst though. I can't figure out another reason why someone would take the test.

My wife passed the CFA without studying, did you go through the LSU MBA program and do you have professional experience in an audit/compliance environment?

Did you major in Finance, or even Accounting? Then you're fine.

Are you sure you are talking about the Chartered Financial Analyst exam? It pretty much requires a couple hundred hours of focused study to pass, even for people with MBAs from top 5 programs and several years of relevant work experience.

Levels 2 and 3? Absolutely! Level 1? Not really.

It's more like 3,000 pages of material and another 2000 pages of indices, glossaries and problems. However, the material is incredibly in depth for a the broad range of subjects it covers.

It would be a good cure for hair that is too thick, low blood pressure, a tan that is too dark or just a general will to live.

You obviously have never taken the test, or are a super genius. The material is mostly review of my finance and intermediate accounting courses, but try mastering 2 semesters (seriously, it took me thirty hours of college credit to cover the material that is covered in this test) of material for a 6 hour, 240 question test.

Good luck.
